He was also featured in the Movie "200 Motels." He seems like such a wild character and the coupling of him and Joni seemed odd. Also, In the song "Billy the Mountain" from the Just Another Band in La album from 1972, Zappa had the lyrics: "He was born next to the beef pies, underneath Joni Mitchell's autographed picture, right beside Elliot Robert's big bank book, next to the boat where Crosby flushed away all his stash." blair - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get more from the Web. Hi all, I've a question for you. Does anybody know where our Joni was between the 10th and the 12th of Juli 1996? I thought I saw her in Ireland, in a place called Doolin. It must have been wishful thinking :-) I already asked Les, but he couldn't help me. This is from Joni's book, "Morning Glory On The Vine" of which I am lucky to have #28 out of 100 made. Penelope Penelope wants to fuck the sea Tired of waiting Tired of the stitches In her tapestry She spreads Goosebumps on her winter flesh Foam Licking at her up the stone Salt on its teasing tongue It comes Wide blue lipped Hissing Wet kissing Like electric Jaggar It comes in spurts It waves obscene She wrinkles up her nose and screams A haunted laugh That rocks the rocks And calls in metaphors For metamorphic cocks. They asked me to share it with the list: 11/21/00 Dear Ashara, It was so thoughtful of you to send the pictures of Kenny taken over Labor Day at your house for "Jonifest." Fortunately, we had him with us in Florida for the week of his Dad's birthday 9/21/00. We saw him again in New York the Friday before his untimely passing. One month later we received the beautiful gift of 30 pages of remembrances of Kenny from your discussion group. You have no idea how uplifting it was for us to learn he had touched so many lives with his goodness, generosity, love and "HUGGS." The outpouring, and condolences, and memories you shared with us, is a great comfort in this our time of deepest sorrow. Kenny loved Joni's music- it was his passion. We're so glad he met such wonderful and caring people to share it with. Please share this letter with the "group" as a thank you for all the Kind Words about our beloved son, Kenny. Since no one reponded to your query, I shall! Can't find a date of release on the CD, but I estimate it to be about 10 years ago. The executive producer is Stewart Raven-Hill, friend of mine from Toronto days who used to work for True North Records- home of Bruce Cockburn. It was recorded in Toronto, by Canadian artists. Listing is as follows: 1. Free Man in Paris- Big Faith 2. This Flight Tonight- Sarah Craig 3. Carey- Universal Honey 4. Big Yellow Taxi- Lorraine Scott 5. Black Crow- Molly Johnson 6. The Beat of Black Wings- Andy Stochansky 7. Shades of Scarlett Conquering- Martha and the Muffins 8. The Hissing of Summer Lawns- Funky Bummer featuring Anne Beadle 9. River- Hugh Marsh and group- former violinist for Bruce Cockburn 10. You Turn me on I'm a Radio- Kurt Swinghammer 11. Coyote- Spirit of the West 12. Woodstock- W.O.W 13. Night in the City- Jenny Whitetly 14. A Case of You- Sloan 15. Blonde in the Bleachers- Squiddly featuring Maria Del Mar 16. Songs to Aging Children Come- John Cody and Marti Jones 17. Refuge of the Road- Laura Hubert and Art Bergmann There are some standout numbers on the tribute, but not many. Some of my faves- 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 16. Of course, none of them come close to the originals. I am GENERALLY of the opinion that a cover is never as good as the original, as it can never be as the author intended- they recorded it as it was originally meant to be. (I have been proven wrong on occasssion!) I do not own any of the cover CDs that Bob Muller has so graciously compiled- I'm sure some are great- I just have some difficulty in listening as I always want to compare the cover to the original. It's been a long time since I listened to this CD, and I must say that it is better than I remember it to be. It must be the influence of the JMDL since I have become a particpant! Best regards, Stephen in Vancouver.
