Hello everyone, my name is Michael and this is my first time posting on this discussion board. Just wanted to let you know I love Joni Mitchell and find her very interesting. My first love in music is Linda Ronstadt. She does not usually write her own music. Reading all your posts, dissecting her meaning's in song is different for me. I don't have that with Linda's music. She picks great songs more on what she can do with them vocally. She is truly a singer to the core of her soul. I was just thinking how much more there would be to think about Linda's music, if I knew she wrote the words. That voice will carry me threw though. It has since I was 8 years old and I am 35 now. I have a lot of Joni albums: Blue Court And Spark Miles of Aisles Night Ride Home Mingus Chalk Marks In A Rainstorm Turbulent Indigo Dog Eat Dog Wild Things Run Fast I just found a few years ago a video of her's from 1980 I think it was. It was strange. It was like an hour video. She performs and they show her backstage, but it is put together like a music video. I think it is called Shadows and Light. Does she not have an album of that name also? I remember going to see her on the Boston Common in 1982 and she walked off the stage because she couldn't perform with people "milling around." My friends and I didn't even know what that meant. She is fabulous! They were all boring Boston Yuppies anyway. -uck em!!! I thought it was worth the price of the ticket to see her do this. Hey, you should always shake it up a little, it keeps it fresh. I have a question. Did Joni write a biography in the 1980. I thought she did and I have been looking everywhere for it for years, think it is out of print I also check the used book stores. Everyone tells me I don't know what I am talking about, I tend to believe them most of the time, but I am sure I read about this when she wrote it. A few years ago it was announced that three new Joni books would be published. The first would be a book of her complete lyrics, and in fact it did come out. The other two never did- one was to be Joni's autobiography, the other a book of her reminisences on the music biz. NP-Joni 9/4/78-The Wolf That Lives in Lindsey - -- Mark Domyancich Harpua@revealed.net tape trading: http://homepage.mac.com/mtd/ "Close it yourself, shitty!" ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2000 23:25:25 EDT From: SCJoniGuy@aol.com Subject: Re: Comfort in melancholy << My favorite lyric in this song is: "There's comfort in melancholy... When there's no need to explain... It's just as natural as the weather In these moody skies today..." >> I gotta cast a vote for: "In our possessive coupling So much could not be expressed So now I am returning to myself These things that you & I suppressed" Who among us hasn't sung those lines and REALLY felt that - the emotion that you've had to bend and shape yourself to the whims of another person, and now you're free to be the person you really are and love it ! Hejira...the finest song on the finest album ever...
