It works really good for sea sickness as well. I was sailing in 6-8 rough seas and we started motoring to make port quickly and get out of the seas. The smell of diesel instantly made my friend sick and she was pretty green (no pun intended). She smoked a couple hits off a funny ciggiedoob and was better within seconds. Of course she was pretty silly for the rest of the evening. lol ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://webmail.netscape.com. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jun 2000 15:55:16 -0500 From: Mark Domyancich Subject: Re: "People's Parties" I have a live tape of Joni talking about this one. Supposedly, she was at a party in New York. She was in a room that had mirrors everywhere; the walls, ceiling, etc. And one guy came around asking everybody what was laughter. He finally came to Joni and she said she would have to write back to him on it. And so "People's Parties" was born. I'm a terrible storyteller so maybe Bob can fix the holes. I urge anyone even remotely near Chicago to come out to hear a very special band, Into the Green, at their CD release gig this coming Wednesday, June 28. Their intelligent and moving pop/jazz/soul music is some of my most favorite, and which I would classify as "tunes I wish I had written." Their wonderful album, Ghettos and Oceans, was produced mostly by Steve Rodby, bassist and co-producer of the Pat Metheny Group, and of the Fred Simon Group. In their delicious musical stew one can taste pinches of Joni (in fact, we did a fantastic Cherokee Louise at the last gig, hopefully will do it again), Steely Dan, Seal, Marvin Gaye, Sting, Pat Metheny, and more. But it's really their own thing, and very groovy at that. Believe me, I'd feel the same even if I weren't playing with them. Into the Green is: Paul Oakley Stovall - vocals Steve Goers - piano accompanied by: Steve Rodby - bass (Pat Metheny Group and Fred Simon Group) Tom Hipskind - drums (Fred Simon Group) Chris Siebold - guitar Fred Simon - keys Lisa Lougheed - vocals Wednesday * June 28, 2000 10 pm-ish (there's an opening act; please call club to confirm show times) Martyrs * 3855 N. One of your members caught me on rollingstone and said I should drop you all a line. Hi Loree Well, I went to the Joni/Bob tour when they landed here in Indy. I guess it's been a couple of January's ago. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the news about the tour, and that they would play Indianapolis. Luckily a couple lady friends accompanied me to Market Square Arena that evening. I thought Joni was on it. I was impressed. I didn't know what to expect, I had never been to one of her shows. I never heard of her playing anywhere before (I'm not paying much attention, am I?). I've heard people say something like her voice isn't as good. Well, I'm a pretty good judge, I believe, and I couldn't tell there was a problem. Maybe it was because I was awsruck. Like, she played the first half of the show solo. I've been a fan of Joni since about 1980. I have thought she is a superior wordsmith ever since the first time I listened. I want to know how to do that myself. If it wasn't work and studying all the time, maybe I'd write. But that's just an excuse. Anyway, if any of you know a good book to use to learn more about songwriting, especially lyrics, dropped me a line :-) Get 100% FREE Internet Access from Freei.Net. 100% FREE, 100% Anonymous, 100% Jam Packed with features. It's time to get SERIOUS about the New England Labor Day Jonifest!! All pertinent information can be found either by going to: Or by going to the main JMDL page, where you will find a link to the same information. A couple of things.....if you are thinking of going, please get in touch with me immediately, (privately) as the space here is limited, especially if you would like to stay at the house. Since I am leaving early Thursday morning for Saskatoon, I'd love to hear from as many interested party goers as possible before I leave. I also will be available by e-mail sporadically while away. Also, please remember to join the mailing list for the Fest if you are planning/thinking of attending. If you have questions, check the website first, and then e-mail me if your question is not answered there. I hope to see as many of you as possible!! So what they are doing is >giving passes to the press and to members of the gallery so >they will be first priority to get in. O.K. who so will fashion JMDL press passes for the gang? Maybe a generous contribution to the gallery might help, too. ;-D The official Mendel website says the show opens at 8 p.m. I can't imagine that is when they are going to start letting in the 6,000 or so. Maybe the press and VIPS will be getting a preview of the exhibit earlier that day? I hope so. I'm so vicariously excited for those who will be there. Just a few more days!
