I must have smoked ten cigs to just get through it, and yes, I made it all the way. I was like "how cool!" I saved it forever on a floppy - where I keep all my favorite things! Best April Fool joke ever played on me. Man, it was soooo sexy it made me wish I were straight. Naw, make that a lesbian. You're the greatest! Thanks, ever so, (and my laptop too) for brightening this otherwise dull biz trip to DC. No regrets, Coyote (jet lagged) Casa Alegre Hollywood, California I'll be dancin' on a pony keg. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Apr 2000 21:48:22 -0700 (PDT) From: Julie Webb Subject: JC: HIGH FIDELITY Hi Everybody, Sorry if this has already been mentioned---(I'm on digest and hopelessly running behind the times,) but I was delighted to discover that "Joni Mitchell" is amusingly mentioned in the wonderful, fantabulous "High Fidelity" movie from the novel by Nick Hornby. I love John Cussack! All of you audio-vinyl heads out there, you've just got to go there...Lamadoo, you'll love this one.... (This movie is as fresh as they come.) (Hornby must have a thing for Joni. If any of you remember, "Joni Mitchell" is also mentioned in Nick Hornby's book, "About A Boy.") -JulezeeWebb ps. By the way, Looks like we Webblings will be moving to Fairfax County Virginia, (the D.C. suburbs) in June. After living in the city for 20 years, ("sure am sick of that sofa,") Im looking forward to switching to an "American Beauty" neighborhood just so the kids could rollerblade (a strange boy is weaving a course of grace and havoc...) and ride their bikes in a "subdivision" (or a ranch house on a hill,) that includes a hissingOfsummerLawns pool. (("Yellow checkers for the Kitchen , Climbing Ivy for the bath"....yadda yadda yadda.) Just hopin' that I'll find a few liberal democrats and latin drummers to "patrol that fence of his." - ---Julie, who's been known to yell, "get down off of there..." __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Only other music list I've subscribed to was the Sondheim one. I discovered Joni as a freshman in college when a friend had "For the Roses.' Great album still. I must say that my interest in the albums after 'Hejira' diminished (my enthusiasm for everything pre- 'Hejira' has never dimmed) but this all changed after I bought Hits and Misses. Love the new one, have been playing it almost exclusively since I bought it, promptly at nine the day it was released. Guess if I had to choose just one JM album for the proverbial desert island it might be 'The Hissing of Summer Lawns.' I'd ask the other list members their answer to this question but I fear newbie-ness--that it is a question that appears from every new subscriber. - --AJ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 Apr 2000 00:16:42 -0600 From: Les Irvin Subject: Sneak preview Joniphiles - Here's the location of the new JMDL site for anyone interested in a preview: http://216.247.66.89/ Sometime this week it should show up at www.jmdl.com.
