I just found that out, not ten minutes ago, after looking at Much Music's FAQ page. So now can you tell us confused Americans if Much More Music is broadcast via dish like Much Music? Or are you Canadians going to scoop an exclusive of one of your most loved daughters? ;-) Hey, it would certainly be fair since she doesn't have any Canadian stops scheduled for her BSN tour (yet). Penny Evian informed: Hi kids, Just so those of you Americans with satellites don't get confused, the Joni on Speakeasy is on MuchMoreMusic, not MuchMusic.... MuchMoreMusic is the VH1 version of MuchMusic. Unfortunately I was not able to afford the $85 price tag for tickets to the Joni, Bob, and Van show here in Vancouver and that is in stark contrast to the first time I saw her: FREE for students of the Univ. of Western Ontario in 1968. (Non-students paid fifty cents!!) I still have a magazine photo taken from behind Joni which shows me sitting in the second row. (I put it through PhotoShop and used it as the CD cover for one of Bob's wonderful CD treasures.) As for the MMM question, I really don't know how readily available it is in the U.S., but I am sure it is. I remember looking once at American Satellite companies once, and I seem to remember saying to whoever was looking with me that they get both MM and MMM. But then again, I'm getting old, so I could be making things up...remember, don't trust anyone over 30 Evian np: Walking on Thin Ice -- Yoko Ono ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2000 17:43:56 -0800 From: "susan+rick" Subject: Re: Much More Music? Penny inquired: > Evian gave us the heads up that Joni is going to be on Much More Music > on Wed. What's Much More Music? Is it a channel on digital cable? A > Canadian broadcast? A webcast? Penny, MuchMoreMusic is a lighter version of Canada's MuchMusic which is our version of MTV. Not that it's easy listening but they don't play heavy metal or rap generally. It broadcasts out of Toronto but is carried by cable across the country and I think to several American markets. Anyway for those who have access the broadcast times are: Wed Mar 22 6pm and 9pm PST (9pm and midnight EST) Thurs Mar 23 11am PST (2pm EST) I don't know anything about the programme but I plan to watch and tape it so perhaps it could be video-treed at some point. For God's sake, can we please organise a petition to Joni's management from the JMDL, requesting that she please play just one date in Saskatoon? I'd organise a flight - sell the car, the cat, the cutlery - just to see this! Evian, never, never, NEVER "swear" to anything on this list. You know you're just tempting fate! And also funny was that I was listening to your Jacqui Fitzgerald covers while I was reading your post...Double Cool! As for my fave from BSN, it fluctuates from moment to moment, but "Sometimes I'm Happy" is the one for the moment. The band gets to swing a little and a nice piano solo from Mr. Hancock. Joni's vocals shine throughout, natch! You captured it very well and so complimentary. Bless you, I've never heard someone from the Northern Cal/Bay Area speak so well of us! (To the rest of the world - Northern California's contempt for the Southern half is legendary and a long-standing institution here. Maybe there is a new sense of rapproachment starting? ;-D We were so lucky in the old days to see anyone anywhere for under $8 and have a halfway decent seat to boot. It's hard to believe that back then one could actually get in the first few rows if they got their tickets early. Not like today where the first 50 rows or so are automatically set aside at the beginning for the industry folk. And, unfortunately, with the advent of Ticketmaster and the other sharky monopolizers of the concert biz, being held up for the $$$ is the norm today. Generalizing, I think they also are targeting us former hippie-turned-yuppie, middle-aged, now-prosperous demographic who they know can and will shell it out to see their favorites from long ago. Sigh. But I need to again put the Joni prices in a little perspective. Here are the ticket prices at the Greek - $33.50, $48.50, $68.50 and $88.50. That $128.50 ticket price is, I am sure, for the front row freaking Jack Nicholson-Rosanna Arquette-k.d. lang-Geffen (eeeuu), whatever seats. The range of prices should not be too far out of everyone's price range. I'm going for the $88 but mainly because I have a long memory of my penniless youth where I was practically in the back row for the Miles of Aisles concert in '74! So, I will to treat myself a little now ;-) Kakki NP: After Midnight - Eric Clapton ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2000 #106 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list at Unsubscribe by sending "unsubscribe onlyjoni-digest" to ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
