GREAT first impression review SC Bob! Those are always my favorite. I think BSN*LE is a much-needed lesson in the proper handling of a CD. My copy seemed to be packed well with the lithos, lyrics & credits acting as a cushion. At first I was perplexed by the little divot to release the CD but I swear my next thought was "Wow, this is the right way to handle a CD." It forces you to pick it up without touching the surface. I've received many scratched CD's in jewel cases via snailmail over the years. The claws on the holder has always been a problem. Perhaps a release button would work better.... Xmas records usually make me want to gag ( I was raised Episcopalian, but left all that). However, I'm sure I'll buy the sucker. I expect it will have "River" and "Facelift" on it. RR >> This MUST be Joni's little joke. If she really intends to do a Christmas album then I only pray she puts a grand piano in her newly-converted art studio & composes something like, say, Cayenne Christ!!! E.T. Never really was into "Torch" songs but I listened to and read along each song. Her voice is richer with more texture. No longer is she the siren that I fell in love with years ago, but rather the companion I'm having conversation with over wine. It's a different Joni, isn't she amazing!? Could anyone but her pull this off? I don't think so. Growing "old?" with Joni is an absolute pleasure. TWO THUMBS UP! 10 OUT OF 10!!!! Can't wait till she does her songs with this kind of orchestration. WOW!! >> ME TOO, ME TOO!!! I want to say to all the nice media critics who sing praises for BSN while putting down the singer because she doesn't sound like a teenager anymore & smokes cigarettes: You would have passed up Van Gogh's *Sunflowers* for $50 at an auction back in 1900.... Need I say more? Not to boast but I received my BSN from CDnow this afternoon and although the CD was loose in the box, it was not scratched at all! It plays gloriously! The quality and lush sound is incredible blasting through my home stereo. Much better than that old car tape player.
