Then plans changed and I had to go to NY and this trip would not be for fun. I was bummed till I checked LL itinerary in Aug. To my thrill and delight there were three shows I could catch the Duo at. Duo to the rescue! Clinton, NY is not far from where I grew up so I rounded up my other sister and we had a great time. Not only did my sister enjoy the music but she was touched by how warm and funny Jen and Laura were, both on and off stage. We got to ohh and ahh over the new baby pictures that Mary brings along too. I got to hear Punctured and Hissing for the first time live. It is one of my favorites, but I've never heard the band do it. There's another good reason to catch the duo. You'll get to hear some different tunes. Then off to Bethlehem, PA. I had forgotten the directions to the next venue but somehow I drove right to the front door of the place. This show was the best of the three as Laura tore it up on the bass the whole time and the sound man did a great job turning it up. Some of the new tunes you will hear are Jen's tunes. They are so sweet! I got to meet a childhood friend of Laura's who just happened to show up with his wife to see the show. Wish he had brought pictures! And lastly, the Turtle Dove Fest. Kennett Sq. is out there. So out there, there was no place to stay. If I back tracked 10-15 miles I could stay at a hotel for over $100. Or park in this field way outside the park with the deer. Which I would have done if there wasn't a No Trespassing sign at the entrance. I drove a little further, in the dark, in the rain till I had had enough and was willing to break the law and trespass. Like magic (very slow magic) up ahead a campgrounds sign. Then I drove a lot further before I got to camp. I'm amazed I found my way back to the fest. This fest. would have been really wonderful if it hadn't rained so much. Small potatoes as far as fest. go but beautiful country. The rain wasn't a deterrent to me as I donned my rain gear but I was a little concerned as the stage area was filling up with water. L and J played on to a sleepy crowd of brave music lovers. Hello to Heather if you are out there in LL list land. You'll know I mean you if your a red headed, hockey playing, tattooed woman. On the long ride home I started making plans for going to the Harvest Fest. in GA. The whole band and Barbara Lamb. I couldn't let the fest. season end without some fine fiddlin'. That story I'll save for another day. Life is good! ------------------------------ End of octoroon-digest V6 #18 *****************************
