I know I am not the only one going to see Laura at festivals. In June I made it to the Blue Plum Fest. in TN. I brought a friend who had never been to see Laura before. The show was wonderful. I thought it odd that they would put the stage about 20 feet from the railroad tracks. The other bands that played before Laura would just stop playing until the train went by. Right in the middle of Cain't Nobody the train went by and it was a long one. Babs just broke into Cherry Blossom Special and we rode it out. The friend I brought just had all kinds of good things to say about the band and each and every comment was the exact opposite of the review Laura had gotten recently. So who ya gonna believe? I was also able to catch Laura at the Festival for the Eno in NC. 4th of July in the South and boy was it a hot one. Yet ten degrees cooler than in past years. It was so hot that during the 3:00 show there was just a handful of people actually in front of the stage. All the rest were off to the right in the little bit of shade this stage area had to offer. I must admit that I did no dancing at this show. Not many others did either. The band was hot but there was no way I was going to get out of my chair. Good news on two fronts. One is that Laura and company will soon or have already taken full custody of the little girl they were foster parents for. Yeah!! And two: as I was leaving a woman came up to talk with Laura and Mary about playing in Amsterdam. Don't know any more details than that but it looks like Laura is off to Europe. Now that's what I'd call the Mother of all Road Trips!! Next trip for me may be the Lotus Festival in Indiana. My sister lives in Indianapolis and I could combine a visit and a festival. But it is more likely that I will see Laura and Co. at the Blue Ridge Harvest Fest. in GA not far from the TN border. Hope everyone on the list gets to see Laura this year and writes in about the experience. That is one thing being on a list is all about.
