It is my guess that with Jen on board Laura can chill a bit and work on harmonies. A real nice change/addition. 5 Laura is capable of standout moments and there are more than he mentions. 6 far-too-clever bits, yes indeed. C'aint Nobody is my favorite tune. What I disagree with is: 1 Her voice style hasn't changed? Yes, it has but I see it as little steps from one CD to the next. A giant step if you go back to Boom Boom GI and listen to her voice on that. But you don't have to go that far back. Laura isn't out there on her own either. The band has evolved too. If Rich sees this as the biggest stumbling block, it is about the size of a pebble. Go over it. I guess I'm into effective protest songs, with idiosyncratic quirky vocal styles, done in coffeehouse funk, with bongos and bass lines that are politely slapped. Not a bad combination. It works for me. Newcomers are welcome whether you come cautiously or dive in head first. Get the CD and see for yourself. I realize this is a review of a CD, but it is only a small portion of the LLove experience. Seeing her live is a treat. In Asheville she was wide open. I was wondering what she was on cause I wanted some. Just a whole lot of fun. Thanks for bringing the review to our attention Mary. It's your list, so you can have questionable taste if you like. Although, I didn't think it to be questionable. I don't get a chance to read those types of magazines cause I'm too busy taking economics courses. Hope to see Laura's cult fanbase in TN and it's free!! Rose ------------------------------ End of octoroon-digest V6 #8 ****************************
