Laura's book, Ain't got No Easter Clothes isn't available yet but is scheduled for 2004. I do believe that the latest CD will tide any Love Bug over till then. Having just recently seen the band at Merle Fest. (where Laura sold out all the new CD's that they brought) and the duo in Asheville for The Rolling Thunder Democracy Tour I can attest to the comment (made in the LLove News 4/23) that Laura does indeed "tell it like it is". Unlike the Dixie Chicks, Laura did not turn into a Dixie Chicken and start making apologies when there were a few boos (amongst all the cheering) at Merle Fest. However, no matter where you stand on the war issue, I think everyone will find this CD belongs in their collection. You'll dance (like no one is watching) to Santa Rosa, and Little Black Beetle. As a warning, don't try to sing this song without proper training. You'll chuckle right out loud when you hear Can I Get A Wet Nurse and Starkweather might bring you to tears. I never much liked Steve Miller's version of Fly Like An Eagle but I had a change of heart when Laura put her beautiful voice to his words. Coupled with Come Together (and Jen's lovely voice) it's a real crowd pleaser. If you sing along with Pagan Place and Talk About Sufferin' (like no one is listening) you'll get your daily dose of "religion". Six plus years have gone by since I discovered Laura via a song on a cd called Women's Work. Somewhere along the way she found the right manager, (thanks Mary for all the "voodoo" that you do) and her Mom. She found love and a baby girl to care for. As Jim Hightower said as he introduced Laura "I get tingly all over". Eight cd's and 25 shows later I still get tingly all over too. Yet, even as her popularity has increased Laura is still all about love. Laura still dances up a storm in spite of recent foot surgery. She still looks like she is having a great time performing and laughing it up with the crowd. Laura still hangs out after the show and yaks it up with her fans. It has been a real treat watching as Laura and company have flourished over the years. I'm hoping the southeast tour that was canceled will somehow find it's way back on to the itinerary. As I can't wait to jump in my new truck and take a road trip. You'll probably see me at the Plum Fest. in TN and at the Fest. for the Eno River in NC. So check out the new web site, listen for Laura on the radio and get out to here her sing. It will do your soul right! Hopefully the economy is being kind enough to you that you can purchase the cd also. If not get out there and tell GDUBYA to get off his Bootay and fix it. It's a dirty world out there and somebody's got to clean it up. So everybody grab a mop! Rose ------------------------------ End of octoroon-digest V6 #4 ****************************
