Great weather, and funky great music!! Laura was her usual groovin' self. She really had the crowd goin with her dancing and swinging her braids around! Barbara played her new one "Road to Silverton" with Laura funking it up a bit on the bass. First time to see Jenn Todd with them. It was like she had been with Laura from the start, never missing a thing! And she was extremely nice too! They played a mixture of old and new songs. Silverton was awful glad for Laura to be back there! Hate that I missed Barbara playing with her band earlier that day. (By the way, she has a new CD Blue on Dakota that just came out Sunday). An Aussie band called FRUIT played before LL. They were awsome!! If you like LL you will probably like them too---But LL will ALWAYS be the Queen of Funkiness to me. I agree that the Silverton show was really nice. First time I'd seen Laura live so I didn't know what to expect. She gets a gary oldman-esque look on her face that makes me worried for the children, but then starts jammin' and shaking her bootay. The whole place was dancing--especially as the temperature dipped with the departure of the sun! The whole festival was relaxed without hordes of people but with a respectably sized crowd, phenomenal weather and great music. At one point when Druha Trava was late showing up, Laura, Barbara Lamb and Jennifer Todd jumped on the stage and sang a spirtual to fill in the gap. Fruit was a really great surprise (www.fruit.on.net -- check their tour diary for a description of Silverton). - -Craig On Thu, 14 Sep 2000, Kim inMississippi wrote: > Date: Thu, 14 Sep 2000 06:29:56 -0700 (PDT) > From: Kim inMississippi > To: octoroon@smoe.org > Subject: [octoroon] Laura in Silverton > > For those of you who didn't have the freedom of the > open road as I had this past weekend and the > opportunity to see this show, all I can say is I feel > sorry for you!!
