I just got around to the pics someone sent in. I saw LL in Asheville in July and they were great as usual and the setting was fantastic. I am sad though that Mary didn't get up on stage to play. However, she was very busy selling CD's and boy was she mobbed. After the show Barbara had to come over and help sell. The crowd was probably the biggest I've seen for LL. A good mix of young and old, male/female, etc. I did buy my copy of 14 Days as promised and LL and Babs signed it. Before the show some little girl got handed up to LL for a picture. After the picture the little girl took hold of LL's hair and the expression on her face was real cute. She evidently was wondering if it was real. The new CD is wonderful. So complex but sparse, so simple but deep. I feel LL has grown immensely both in her personal life and her musical talent. I also feel that if you like LL only for her funky style you may not be connected to this CD. It is probably the least popish of all her CD's. Not to sound snobbish but it seems more like a CD for musicians or for those a little more sophisticated. You can love it just for it's funky beat but it can also take you beyond that. As one woman in the crowd after the show yelled to LL...LL rocks! Rock on Laura! And Mary next time on the East coast I'd like to see you on stage playing. I'll stand behind the table and sell if you'll play. This is a quiet list lately. I'm glad you said that thing about new CD being for musicians cuz I am a musician (bass player) and I haven't gotten around to buying LL's 14 Days yet! Now, I'm encouraged to get my big ol' bootay to the store. She's coming up here at end of September so I get to see her live again. YAY! I saw her a couple years ago. I can't wait. I saw LL in Tukwila at a free outdoor concert! She was fantastic. I bought 14 Days at the time and I listed to it almost every day--it's been about a month! I'm not a musician, but I DO love it! ; ) I have to work late, so I'm not going to be able to see her at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle tonight. I'm quite bummed about that! I told some friends about it though, so they'll be filling the house. Their good vibes from the show should be left over tomorrow morning, so that's my consolation prize. Don't wait any longer to get the new CD. It is absolutely beautiful. I especially love the "Seattle" track--not only because it's my home, but because it is sooo beautiful--and sooo "true". Thanks for letting me ramble! jen >>> Tammy Rychetnik 8/24/00 1:08:38 PM >>> Hi Rose and all, Thanks for sharing your concert experience with us. This is a quiet list lately.
