Just imagine taking five of your friends on vacation with you for two weeks and you pay for all the airfare and car rental and hotels every night. *And* you pay each of them a wage every day on top of all that. I don't mean to whine, but, while we get paid pretty well for some concerts on the east coast, most are pretty minimal. After getting paid and after net record sales, the show at IOTA cost us about $500. The show at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia cost Laura $800. The entire two week tour cost us $4000 over what we took in, which we had to borrow. When I asked the record company for tour support to make up the deficit, they dropped Laura. It's tricky business. We get paid better on the West Coast and it doesn't cost us nearly as much to travel out here, so that's why we don't get back east as often as we would like. We'll be back in Baltimore in June and Maine in July, so get ready to travel, as it will probably be a while before we're back in DC and Philadelphia!
