If she does, she didn't reserve last night for it in Davis, CA. The entire band was on the money and in great form for their last stop of this little tour (Laura called it a tour-lette). They played for two hours with a 15 minute break in the middle. Opened the show with Amazing Grace. I didn't write down a playlist, and I can only remember the following songs (not necessarily in order) that they definately played: Mahbootey (the other buttah song) Aha me a Riddle I Day I'm a Givin' Way Less is More Sorry (Laura mentioned that this was the first time they were going to play this song live, and said, "but that shouldn't be a problem") - very moving performance. Give me Five Bad Feeling Octoroon Put A Little Love In Your Heart Nelson (1st encore) They also played two near acappella songs, drums only with Barbara, Laura, and Rod singing. Both had a gospel feel, one of them being the 2nd and last encore. Someone near the front row requested a song, in which Laura said that she couldn't play that song because when they recorded it, Rod was the one that played bass. She was giggling while she was explaining this, saying that she doesn't really know what all those dots and fret marks mean, but that she should really learn the song. I don't have my liner notes here at work, so I can't look it up to see which song she was referring to. Anybody know which one it is? I had a feeling it was off Shum Ticky, but I'm not positive about that. Also, when I saw her in Chico this past September, just before the release of Shum Ticky, she mentioned that if she sold enough copies the first week of the new release, she'd get to go on the Letterman show. So, I asked her last night if they met the quota. She said, "not yet", and that I should tell 50,000 of my closest friends to buy the album. So maybe they're not held to a one week time frame. How is that supposed to work, anyway? - - Allen (in Nevada City, CA, and still groovin' from last night's show!) ------------------------------ End of octoroon-digest V1 #64 *****************************
