It is true that Laura has a new CD coming out on 9/29, entitled Shum Ticky.
It is awesome, fun, and you're gonna love it!  It does feature Mah Bootay and
Give Me Five, so the butt songs are well represented.

Now, it was recently suggested that you order your advance copies from CDNow,
but I have a different request.  It is very important to Laura and Mercury
Records that she show a lot of "Soundscan" sales in the first few weeks after
the release.  Soundscan is a national sales tracking system picked up by the
scanners at the cash registers of the music stores around the country.
Soundscan surveys these sales and makes a report every week to all the labels,
radio stations, etc.  If we show a lot of sales, then radio gets interested in
playing it, promoters get interested in hiring the band, the record company
gets energized and mobilized to do a good job, etc.  Mail order CDs are not
usually scanned, so they don't show up on the report.  What I REALLY need you
to do after 9/29 is to tell all your friends who are Laura fans not to wait,
but to go out now and buy the CD at the store.  This will be an enormous help
to Laura.  We're hoping to sell 30,000 CDs in the first month of sales and we
definitely need your help to do that.

I will be sending out a letter soon reiterating this plus tour info to LL's
complete email list, so it will be a little redundant when it comes to you,
but I wanted to catch you before you made your orders.  Of course, if you
can't find it in your stores, order by mail, by all means.  btw, we now have a
toll free number and Visa/MC processing for Laura's CDs.  The number is
877/LAURACD (528-7223).

Thanks for all your support and the good chat.  I send some of it on to Laura
and she gets a chuckle out of it (most of the time).  Right now she is on a 10
day backpacking trip in the Pasayten Wilderness in north central Washington.
