She was really amazing. I had seen the Sessions show on PBS, but still seeing her live was very different- I didn't expect her to be so "entertaining"- she was very funny, joked around alot, and had an ongoing dialog going with Barbara Lamb- all very amusing. Speaking of Barbara Lamb, she was very different than on the sessions concert- very stylish. I felt the loss of Julie Wolf- Barbara really steps in, as does the drummer, but the music is just a little less tasty and rich, particularly in the percussion area. Laura sang two songs off the new album, which she says is due out in two months, though I only remember one very well- hard to forget, it seems to be dedicated to her derriere, the chorus being "My boo- tay, my big ole boo-tay" I've had some correspondence with Laura over the last year and had the chance to introduce myself and my family to her before the concert, we also spoke again afterwards. She's a very warm and sweet person. She really made the night special for my kids, which was great. After the concert, we headed back to our campground, where a Native American Pow wow was winding down. We listened to drumming and Native fluting late into the night. It was all wonderful- Laura ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Jul 1998 22:18:18 -0400 (EDT) From: Ross Carson-Groner Subject: [octoroon] Re: your mail waaaaaaaah, i go to hampshire, I live 10 minutes from the iron horse, and it's summer vacation so I'm stuck in fucking elkin NC. I'm feeling angsty. can you tell? I guess my karma is bad this week... - --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ignorant people often call cloning "a dangerous new technology" and liken it to nuclear technology. We fail to see how dropping a clone from a height of 30,000 ft can hurt anybody (except of course the clone). Changing the world is good for those who want their names in books. But being happy, that is for those who write their names in the lives of others, and hold the hearts of others as the treasure most dear. --Orson Scott Card Children of the Mind Ross Carson-Groner RCC97@hamp.hampshire.edu On Mon, 27 Jul 1998, Jonathan Slate wrote: > Saw Laura Love last night at the Iron Horse in North Hampton, MA.
