Oops, wrong list...... ;-) Anyway, just thought I'd pass along that Julie Wolf has been touring with Ani DiFranco lately, which is a pretty interesting combo (I've always thought a Laura/Ani collaboration could be *very* interesting, actually). Here's what Ani's online newsletter has to say about her: "With barely enough time to catch their collective breath after tours of Europe, Australia, and Japan in early 1998, DiFranco & co. hop back on the Love Bus to criss-cross the East Coast and Midwest once again. Joining Ani, drummer ANDY STOCHANSKY, and bassist JASON MERCER on the road this time out will be JULIE WOLF on keyboards and backing vocals. Multi-instrumentalist Wolf is a veteran of the Pacific Northwest jazz scene who is also known for her work recording and touring with folk artists Laura Love and Catie Curtis, among many others." If you want Ani's tour dates, you can find them on the web, on several newsgroups (alt.music.alternative.female, rec.music.folk, or alt.music.ani-difranco), or email me privately and I'll pass along the whole newsletter if you want. I think Julie will be a pretty terrific addition to her band -- when I've seen Laura perform, my attention has been pretty divided between the two of them. - -Anne "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" -Mary Oliver Anne Haines * ahaines@indiana.edu * http://php.indiana.edu/~ahaines/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Mar 1998 08:06:28 -0800 From: Kat Subject: Re: [octoroon] Checking in... I first saw Laura at our anual Ren. Fair in Moscow Idaho. I fell in love with her music in an instant. I have seen her several times since then in Moscow and at Bumbershoot. I have many signed pictures and tapes of hers. She of course is my favorite member of the band, although without her backers I am not sure what may happen. She deffinately playse some of the verybest base licks I have ever heard and she has by far the best yoddle I have heard. He music touches the soul because it is real and is about current issues. I don't know that I have a favorite song of hers, they are all my favorites. I am so glad that she has made a successful venture with her sound. the unfortuante part now is that the small towns where she used to play can no longer afford to pay her. I cant wait for more from her Peace be with you, Kay. Across the wall of the world, A River sings a beautiful song. It says, Come, rest here by my side. -- Maya Angelou ------------------------------ End of octoroon-digest V1 #6 ****************************
