The Toronto singer/songwriter is wrapping up a string of Canadian tour dates in support of her Day One album this month before she prepares to head across the Atlantic. "I am moving to France," Slean told Halifax weekly newspaper, The Coast. "I am going to rent l'appartement and continue to promote Day One. I also have plans to start working on the next record." Slean branched out and introduced new musical elements to her cabaret pop sound and revealed more of herself lyrically with Day One, which was released in Canada by Warner in September 2004. That album followed 2002's Night Bugs, 1998's Blue Parade and 1997's Universe. While the picturesque piano-playing pixie has kept busy touring, she's also found the time to publish a pocket-sized poetry anthology titled Ravens and star in the film noir musical, Black Widow. The movie . which also features Martin Tielli of The Rheostatics, somewhat elusive and charmingly eccentric singer Mary Margaret O'Hara, and actor Tom McCamus . will premiere on CBC TV on January 19 at 8 p.m. If you'd rather see Slean live than on TV, get to one of these shows: # December 7-8 Halifax, NS @ Ginger's Tavern # December 9-10 St. John's, NF @ LSPU Hall # December 15-16 Toronto, ON @ Harbourfront Centre Theatre ------------------------------ End of navy-soup-digest V8 #41 ******************************
