I appreciate it tremendously. Because of the numbers of emails I got, I'm tripling the numbers of free CDs I'm mailing out to 12. Unfortunately that won't cover everyone who asked, but that's as much as I can do at this time. I'll let everyone who wrote know whether I will or won't be able to send one. Thanks so much for your interest. I think that would be the most effective way of getting information to those who are interested in your music and consistent cd/show announcements. Give a heads up on how to signup, and all will be well. Just a friendly suggestion. Featured artists include: Sarah Slean http://www.sarahslean.com Edison Woods http://www.edisonwoods.com Edison Woods is a band of villains with a soft spot for love songs. To see them feels a bit like stumbling upon a strange lost film. Telling their tales with strings and piano, baritone sax and guitars, this eight piece group includes the vocals of Julia Frodahl and members of Antony & The Johnsons. "Edison Woods brings a unique mix of earthy lo-fi songs and cinematic landscapes...One can hear the lushness of Goldfrapp, the textural subtleties of The Dirty Three, the eerie qualities of Julee Cruise, and in Julia's voice the humble ponderings of Cat Power's Chan Marshall." - CD Baby Juno Award (Canada.s Grammy equivalent) winner for best new artist in 2003, Sarah Slean has just released her third album, Day One, and it.s a hit. Slean's wisest and best-realized record to date, ranging from torch light moodiness to cabaret-noir to uptempo pop, Day One communicates its central themes of ruin and rebirth while still retaining a sense of optimism and playfulness. www.sarahslean.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Nov 2004 15:05:51 -0500 (EST) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: slean in new york! She was _nominated_ in this category in 2003, but Avril Lavigne won. http://www.canada.com/entertainment/features/junos2003/story.html?id=9F63BF16-F015-4EB1-9D2A-63D7ADE3949E James. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Nov 2004 18:28:25 -0500 From: Greg Teltschik Subject: RE: Overflow CD promo Bill, This is really the type of email that should be addressed personally to Tanisha, not to the list. According to google, Tanisha has posted around 30 times to Navy-Soup since she joined the list back in 99; less than half of those appear to be about her music (though I didn't go through all 30 responses). In this case, she is offering free CDs to interested people on Navy-Soup, and has even sweetened the deal. Personally, I haven't felt that it's excessive by any stretch of the imagination. I do agree that Tanisha should consider setting up her own mailing list if she wants to deliver more focused communications to her fan base. This list - and several others like it - has always had a healthy bit of non-Sarah content. Given the relatively low volume in general here, it seems fine to me.
