She talks about her favourite destination: NICE, FRANCE. I visited Nice last year during a cross-Europe train tour. Travelling by train south from Paris was amazing. The scenery along the French countryside is a stunning experience, like a Cezanne painting -- lush vineyards that stretch to the horizon over rolling hills, the pastel shades of the charming little houses lining the route and the intense blue of the Mediterranean. Flanking the Bay of Angels, Nice is an ancient locale, now capital of the French Riviera. It's a town of broad palm-fringed avenues and grand hotels, of azure skies and golden sunshine, of beaches and excellent museums. When I arrived there in the morning, I immediately went to the shoreline and watched the sunrise. I was wordless and felt inspired by this place. It's not hard to see why the spectacular light and beauty of Nice have long been an inspiration for many artists and musicians, such as Toulouse Lautrec, Matisse, Berlioz and Verdi. I fell under its spell, too. At the train station, I purchased a ticket for a local hoste. When I made my way there, I discovered to my joy that my tiny room was on the top floor with a skylight that, when opened, looked out over the peaked roofs of the Old Town skyline. The streets here are narrow, a riot of colourful flowers spilling over planters from almost every window, and those delightful clotheslines strung from house to house. Inspired by this enchanting panorama, I had to make a painting of the streetscape. Nice is made for travelling on foot, as all the major attractions are close by. ) National Post 2004 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 08 Sep 2004 02:59:39 +0000 From: "Tab Siddiqui" Subject: RE: national post article yeah, i saw that on Saturday and had a good chuckle. it's a new clip. he's just plain wrong. ;) - - t. >the night bugs mention means this must either be an old clip or that jack >kohane is mis-informed.... > >woj _________________________________________________________________ Take charge with a pop-up guard built on patented Microsoft.
