Does anyone else think that S is using a more classical phrasing on the piano stuff lately? I just got a great mind-picture of Bank Accounts on clavichord. Great versions of BA and "Book Smart". Her voice is in amazing shape, those sustains on "California" are fabu. But that's what I love about Slean. Her piano phrasing is so complicated compared to other singer/songwriters, and is beautiful all by itself. But man, after watching the concert... I didn't know she could get any better! I haven't heard many of the songs live, so it's awesome to hear how she arranged things. Yes, thanks for posting this Nicole. (those lucky Europeans don't realize what they're getting!) thanks so much for sending that out! i had the delight of seeing her last week here in Edmonton, and for the first time heard "the polka song." it definitely stood out in my mind from the night, being a new song, such a playful piece and her using her voice in a way i'd never heard before (midway: yah-dada-dah-dah, yah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah), and so i'm so glad to be able to hear it again before her new cd comes out next year. she also wore the exact same outfit, down to the pearls and hairpiece when here last week. consistent with her outfit, we also got a little flapper dance towards the end that the european audience didn't get = ) she's so charming! while it's true that the enthusiastic cheering was missing as the first chords of certain songs were struck, it was nice to see that the applause at the end of her set was quite lengthy and sustained. i think they were quite impressed - as they should have been - and i hope she's come away from the experience with gangs more european fans. jen*~ James McGarry wrote: - ----- Original Message ----- From: "nicole gilbertson" To: Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2003 9:18 PM > It was very cool hearing an audience that had never heard Sarah before. > When it came to the intro to Sweet Ones, I thought... I also had the opportunity to see Sarah in Edmonton last thursday, she was amazing, whether she has a band behind or, or a base player, or just her (like in edmonton), she always shines no matter what. That was such a sweet concert. Have any of you seen the concert on sympatico.ca? (maybe u have and i'm behind) but that's a pretty good concert, performed back in april.
