I'm a Blue Rodeo fan, too, so I can tell you that the song Sarah played with them was likely 'Bad Timing' (what a treat!). Hey, some help from all the NY navy-soupers, please ... My boyfriend and I booked June 27 - July 2 off from work ... we were going to go camping but then we found out about Sarah playing in Central Park on the 29th ... so we're now going on a NYC mini-vacation (woohoo!). We know totally nothing about NYC though. We need help on good places to stay (we're looking for a clean, inexpensive hotel) and eat. And of course we want to do a lot of touristy things without getting caught in the traps. Also, anyone going to the Central Park show??? We don't have a lot of info on that, either (other than the other acts). Any help would be truly appreciated. Thanks! I'm assuming it's free. I don't know much about hotels since i live in queens but recommend South Street Seaport if you want to visit some place nice. It's downtown and it's beautiful. There's places to shop as well as really nice resturants. The resturants are not too expensive, but very nice. If the weather is nice, you can eat outside which is always nice to eat by the sea. There's also a book store called Strand, i'ts right by the Seaport. They sell books for a lot cheaper. The books are new, (as far as i can tell), and some are reviewer's copy. For me i always enjoy downtown better than any other place in the city. There's also SoHo and Chinatown. Downtown is also full of great resturants and they open late. well i hope that helps. My friends and I will be attending the central park show. So i'll see you there! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jun 2003 13:18:59 -0700 From: "M. Some of you are familiar with the benefit shows I put on every year in Toronto at C'est What... Well, we're not having one this summer (probably will do one in the fall/winter instead), but we *are* throwing two excellent indie showcases at the club regardless. Both shows will feature Winnipeg piano popster Andrew Spice (his debut album was produced by Emm Gryner)... He's just moved to Toronto this week, so I've put together a bit of a residency (well, a truncated one, anyway ;)) for him at C'est What (Front & Church) to kick things off and welcome him to T.O. We're hoping for a solid turnout, so please do come out to both shows, bring some friends, and pass this on to anyone you think would be interested...! (FYI: Both shows will end fairly early, for those of you who have to go to work the next morning.) Here are the details: PIANO NIGHT, June 12 Doors 9:30 pm Show 10 pm SHARP Cover $8 with Jeff Straker, Andrew Spice, Andrea Florian (all performers playing their tunes on solo piano except for Andrea who will be accompanied by cello) INDIE NIGHT, June 19 Doors 9:30 pm Show 9:45 p.m. SHARP Cover $10 with Vyletz, Erin Smith (solo), Andrew Spice, and Beautiful Senseless (big jazz- pop band from Guelph, previewing material from their new album) Any questions, feel free to e-mail me. Hope to see some of you there... - - Tab. _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Jun 2003 23:24:58 -0400 From: broadway jack Subject: sarah harmer at joe's pub ms. harmer's at joe's pub in new york city for the next two nights. i'll be catching the tuesday night show but i'll be by my lonesome since meredith'll be down at meow mix for the biannual (or is that the semi-annual?) xena night. anybody else going? we saw her last weekend at the iron horse and the show was most excellent, so if you're on the fence, i'd recommend settling on the going side rather than the staying-home side. ;) woj ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Jun 2003 23:39:03 -0400 From: Patty Lin Subject: Re: sarah harmer at joe's pub cool, i've never been to any of her shows, but i'll check it out. - -patty woj@smoe.org wrote: > ms. harmer's at joe's pub in new york city for the next two nights. > i'll be catching the tuesday night show but i'll be by my lonesome > since meredith'll be down at meow mix for the biannual (or is that the > semi-annual?) xena night. anybody else going? > > we saw her last weekend at the iron horse and the show was most > excellent, so if you're on the fence, i'd recommend settling on the > going side rather than the staying-home side. ;) > > woj - -- Your favorite stores, helpful shopping tools and great gift ideas.
