Duncan was beautiful ... kind of like watching Sarah get her feet wet before going for that long swim. Eliot was amazing. To be honest, I don't remember anything during that song. I was so completely into it and just enjoying the moment. After she was done I turned to my b/f and said that I could go home now. It was all my expectations of the evening wrapped up in one song. But of course we didn't leave ;) Her second set was the most emotional two songs I have ever witnessed. Most of us have heard My Invitation *many* times. For me it's always beautiful but it hasn't ever stood out as much as I'd hoped. Saturday night it stood out. Just Sarah & the piano ... and silence from the crowd. Her voice resonated through the building with such ease. I was scanning some of the audience at the same time to see if they were feeling anything, too ... and I think they were. At the end of the song you could hear a pin drop. A couple of seconds of silence. She totally had the crowd. When she started BSSS I was rather excited because I was thinking it's the most 'symphony-friendly' song on NB. I was eager to hear their interpretation and I was blown away. Sarah was really meant to sing that song. The TSO did such a beautiful job at adding to the performance. By the end, I was in tears (and I don't even like BSSS!) and I think Sarah was pretty emotional, too. She came out for a second bow (I was hoping she'd play another song ;)) and the crowd really loved her. I've talked to a few people who weren't fans before the show and they are now ... so the spell worked ;) Thanks for indulging me!
