I'm glad to announce you the opening of my new site, which includes a message board too: http://sarahslean.org The website is made for fans who want to share their own news, reviews or opinions about Sarah and so everyone is able to submit news on it, and to comment them too. The goal is to have an alive place to share our interest for the talented Sarah Slean. But it's not only about her, as fans can post their own creations (poems, songs, wallpapers,..) on it too. I hope you'll like it, and use it too :) Alex ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Dec 2002 12:44:27 From: Kristilyn Robertson Subject: No Slean content - How do you register your domain? Hello people! I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to register your domain. I'm recording a CD and we're making a website as well, but I'm so completely computer illiterate and have no idea how to do this! :) Can anyone help? Hi it's very easy!! Just go to a site like this one : http://www.register.com/ or http://www.domainpeople.com/ type the domain name to know if it's available and pay online. That's all :) Then when you own it, you have to configure the name server where you bought the name. What kind of music are you recording? Hi- I've been lurking on the list for a long time, but I just anted to chime in on this... I'd recommend against using register.com. They charge more for the same thing that many other companies provide for about half the cost. Also, they've done some shady things recently (like they sent me a thing in the mail telling me my domain was about to expire, and I needed to renew with them soon. My domain expires in 2 years...) Anyway, I'd recommend using joker.com or another company. If you're interested I could send you a list of good registrars. Also, you'll probably need hosting, have you figured out what you'll be doing for that? If I can help at all, please let me know. - -Jason http://jasonstonehouse.org On Sun, 8 Dec 2002, Alex wrote: > Hi > > it's very easy!! > Just go to a site like this one : http://www.register.com/ or > http://www.domainpeople.com/ > type the domain name to know if it's available and pay online. It's moved to a new home and hopefully will have fewer problems. Please email me privately/offlist if you still have trouble. Verisign isn't the cheapest, I'm sure, but they are the original name registar, and they offer some very good services. I trust them more than anyone else out there on the net. They also offer a few managed email packages and stuff that allow you to have your own personalized mail without needing to set up your own mail server. I think they even offer web access. Beyond that, you have full access to your domain and can change all of the information anytime you want. If you're looking for the cheapest, go elsewhere. If you're looking for the most reliable, go with Verisign.
