She looked positively stunning, and with her oozing talent and wonderful stage presence, she had the smaller-than-I-expected crowd eating out of her hand. More commentary from me after the setlist: Eliot Bank Accounts Duncan Day One (new to me) Book Smart, Street Stupid Bulletproof... I Wish I Was (Radiohead cover) [1] Blue Parade Vertigo [2] California St. Francis ** headgear change ** [3] The Score [2] Sweet Ones Drastic Measures [4] Encore: Playing Cards With Judas Me and Jerome Weight Second Encore: My Invitation Butterfly (=W= cover) [1] Wonderful surprise. I didn't know Sarah did this! [2] First time I've heard these live... awesome stuff [3] Right before The Score, Sarah took off the red scarf-thing on her head and put on an Angus Young-esque hat... you had to be there :-) [4] Complete with an improv'd intro about knocking stuff over at stores and wrecking havoc at bingo halls... hi-larious! When Sarah came out for the first encore, I shouted for El Scorcho. I felt kind of bad afterwards, thinking that I should've requested one of *her* songs that I haven't heard like Everything By the Gallon or Little London Night, but I *really* wanted El Scorcho. I was actually surprised that nobody else shouted for stuff during the encores. I know that crowds in Vancouver don't tend to be that good, but dude, it's Sarah muthafucking Slean! Tell her you want to hear ! Anyway, it was cool meeting Nicole and her friend Claire (thanks for the button!) and seeing Terry again. It would've been better if the room was packed though, but on a Wednesday night in Vancouver with barely any advertisements for the show, a smallish crowd was to be expected, I guess. Since Hanson did a great job recapping the show I won't say too much more except that this was my first Sarah Slean concert and I loved it. Great seeing/meeting other fans at the show and hopefully we won't have to wait to long to do it all again. And BIG thanks to Nicole for that Sarah button. Before I go... I MET SARAH AFTER THE SHOW! She made an appearance about 25 minutes after the show ended when all but a few of her devoted fans were still at the venue. I got her to autograph my poster and it looks great on my wall. - - Acquizeta (a.k.a. Did you see the trumpeter pull out the conch??? It was SO cool! Terry, were you the guy with Hanson I gave the button to? I really wanted to stay after to give sarah a button personally but my friends were really tired and they came first :) Besides, I got to see her after the show in August and at Chapters (Though I was much too shy to really say anything). I was able to give the drummer one of the buttons... so hopefully he gave it to her... oh well, I can only hope. I bought a shirt at the show and wore it to work today along with one of my buttons and one random girl started chatting to me about her friends who go to U of T who knew Sarah. Of course, they didn't really know her personally but according to her, a lot of the guys "knew her from afar" I had to chuckle at that... and my only comment was "yeah, she's perty" Anyways... it was great to meet those I met at the show... Definitely cool to meet hardcore old school slean fans... makes me not feel like *so* much of a geek ;) take care all! ~nik _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
