It was my first Sarah show and I had been really looking forward to it since it was first scheduled for late November. I'm glad she finally made it back to Cambridge! The Kendall is such a great little venue, intimate doesn't even begin to describe it. I mean after you count the opening band there's room for only about 30 people. I love it. California was a great song, hard to believe she had just written it, it sounded really polished. I was really impressed by the whole set, and the new drummer looked like he was having a great time. - -Jason |//////////////////////////////////////////////| Jason Stonehouse jason.stonehouse@psualum.com |\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\| ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Jan 2002 00:22:26 From: "Tab Siddiqui" Subject: OAC: Sarah Harmer nooz... Yeah, so I know I have to start a Sarah Harmer list (soon, I swear!), but folks who got to hear her new song "Silver Road" during the last leg of the tour will be very happy to hear that it will be the first single off the "Men With Brooms" soundtrack and will be released to radio next week. Great song - I think it has the potential to do excellently, and even better is the fact that the Tragically Hip acted as her backup band for the track. It's a Kingston tour-de-force! :) "Men With Brooms" is the forthcoming Canadian feature written and directed by and starring "Due South"'s Paul Gross. It's about curling. And Leslie Neilsen is in it. But don't let that scare you off. ;) Many of you will already have seen the trailer in the theatres, and while it does have the look of a CBC-TV movie (and I mean that in the *nicest* way, really ;)), it seems charming, and hopefully will be that rare Canadian movie that does well. The soundtrack features new music from Paul Gross himself (is there anything the man *can't* do?!), Holly McNarland (new album finally coming soon!), and Vancouver's excellent Pepper Sands, plus previously released material from the usual Canadian suspects like Our Lady Peace, Matthew Good Band, and Big Sugar. (In other Sarah news, she's headed off on a tour of Europe and Australia, plus the new video for "Weakened State", featuring tour footage she shot herself during last summer's BNL tour, is up on her website now.) - - Tab :) _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Jan 2002 00:00:51 -0500 (EST) From: "Julian C. Comments on there rate the show as "impressive" and I would concur, saying also that it was of a caliber similar to the last show she played in Rochester, at Milestones in December. The setlist was also very similar although I didn't keep a written on this time; there were a few new songs, such as one entitled "California" that her and her band had just written, and which she introduced by saying it was written about a brief fling she had with a man down in California whom she later discovered was married for 10 years. *waves* to fellow navy-souper Nicole Killian and her team for all the hard work in putting this show together! - - Julian [ Julian C.
