Last night's show at the Kendall was really fun. It is such a tiny venue - I would say there were around 30 people watching Sarah (and many more noisy folks at the bar, but that's normal there...). We (Meth, Woj, Jeff, me, my boyfriend) were seated right next to the stage, which was fantastic. Sarah said she had 3 new songs for us. I don't always read every single navy soup post ;) (shame on me!) so I don't know if I should've recognized some songs that to me were new... Here's the setlist: Elliot (Am I spelling that wrong? Probably.) California (she called it an "experiment") Drastic Measures Sweet Ones (so fun!) ? "Used to be Brave"? Book Smart, Street Stupid (written by her alter ego, Emily, a Frenchwoman who drinks a lot) Little London Lights (solo) Universe (solo - very very pretty) The Score (they skipped Duncan for this - she said it's the soundtrack to a part in Natural Born Killers) Duncan (and then did it next) Weight (this reminded me of when Tori Amos first toured with the band and reworked piano only songs like Waitress. I know Weight wasn't piano only originally, but it really struck me as different this time around. To be honest, I adore the original so much the new version didn't click with me like I'd hoped. Sarah said that this one was for the hard rock radio stations that won't play cabaret music.) Bank Accounts ? "Oh Man?" (The "Tom and Jerry" song?) - -encore- Playing Cards with Judas (AMAZING) Afterwards Meredith brought me over to talk to Sarah and she said she remembered my tiara. I forgot to tell her that Emm Gryner has worn it since, although I did tell her that PJ Harvey said no to me. hehe. Sarah said that the album is definitely coming out in March - - in Canada. She wasn't as sure about the U.S. date. I took a bunch of pictures (I'm not the only one) and a few short movie clips (sans sound) with my digital camera. I will try to put these someplace where people can see them. That's all folks. marlatiara, lurker ===== ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Famous people wearing my tiara: http://www.marlatiara.com *updated 10/26/01 - Tanya Donelly! "You have an ID? It's a bar." They let me in. They let me pay them $8. They let me watch Kelly Riley. Time for Sarah Slean to come on? Ok, time to kick out Russ and company. Got my eight bucks back, of course. Anyone know if she's playing in the area again anytime soon? Russ > Hi all. > > Last night's show at the Kendall was really fun.
