Incidentally....I have recommended Sarah to a few people on girlmusic lists I am on, and a couple of them got the EP and don't like it at ALL except for the older songs. So someone else on the one list burned Blue Parade and Universe and mailed it (this is on a trading list) and suddenly this whole discussion came up on how they liked overall the solo produced stuff better than the Altantic stuff. Another conspiracy theory came up, that perhaps Atlantic is looking for something else direction wise, now that the whole lilith thing is 'out'...and is now seeking artists like "vonda shepard and dido" that work better on soundtracks and such and such. but not as in your face in your ear vocal tracks as early Tori Amos and even Universe era Sarah. So it's all very weird and stuff. I don't know, I don'tunderstand most of what goes on in music anyway, the creation or the business end. I have not heard the new Weight but I made a tape for singer Pepper McGowan about 4 years ago with weight, I know and John xxiii on it and yes I know some of you (probably 99% of this list) hate her guts and her music, but I saw a show of hers earlier this month where she actually mentioned between songs having a dream of going kareoke singing and that they would only let her sing Weight by Sarah Slean or Big Shoes by Jill Sobule. She also said both Universe and Pink Pearl were albums by "two really good songwriters you should check out." I also wonder what happened with Fiona Apple's album that was supposed to be between Tidal and When the Pawn...it was supposed to be called Okeerupt (spelling?) and I was looknig foward to it. A couple of the Fiona lists I've been on have discussed this. Half the people think it was that FIONA was unhappy with it. The other half think it was a Sony thing. I wish I knew what would have been on it. JewelEDA/Seb: Do you know anything about that? I am curious to hear both that and the Jewel thing out there that you mentioned. ~heather~ who has not put her too-long sig up yet PS the guitar sarah pics are so gorgeous. she looks gothy! yay. I'm on several Fiona Apple lists and have never heard about this in-between album. I thought that Okeerupt was just an alternate title for WTP? Hmm... Would be interested in details!
