Management Subject: postponing Boston show Sorry folks - Due to immigration circumstances way beyond our control, we're having to postpone Sarah's show at the Kendall Cafe tonight. We're trying to reschedule as quickly as we can. As soon as we've found a date that works for both the club and Sarah, we'll announce the new date. Again, apologies to everyone. If we could be there, we absolutely would. Kind regards, Heather ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Nov 2001 21:43:15 -0500 From: meredith Subject: Re: unlicensed emailers Hi, >i just wanted to drop the mailing list a line to warn everyone to please be >vigilant about protecting your email accounts. i'm not that well versed on >computer hacking and i don't know how email servers work, but it's recently >come to my attention that someone else has been sending emails to different >recipients from an address that is being traced to me, even though they aren't >using my address or my computer. Sounds like you may have a new worm called W32/Badtrans@mm. This virus sends itself out by responding to unanswered mail in your Outlook or Outlook Express inbox. Complete information, as well as how to remove the virus from your system can be found at http://www.mcafee.com/anti-virus/viruses/badtrans/default.asp?cid=2607. There are other, older viruses out there which send random files from your hard drive to everyone in your Outlook address book; or otherwise spread themselves using your Outlook address book. McAfee's site has info on those as well. No one, particularly no one who uses Outlook or Outlook Express for mail should be without an anti-virus program running on their computer at all times. Though if no one used Outlook or Outlook Express, there would be a *lot* fewer annoying mail-based viruses and worms out there... but I digress.
