Who is Rockstar about? I've been dl'ing live Sarah Slean stuff and I heard this song. But I'm not in the know. 2. I downloaded a track called "Yellowbelly." I have all of Sarah's albums and EP's. So, what is this? Is it even her? 3. Julia. Dl'ed a live version of Our Lady of Peace's version. I love the song... but I don't like the way OLP sings it. Never really heard of Our Lady of Peace or whatever they are called. Is there a version available somewhere where Sarah sings it. Also, are there chords or sheet music available somewhere for this or other Sarah songs. I'd love to sing Julia myslef. 4. Any chance Sarah might come by Chicago or somewhere in Illinois? I'm in central Illinois now, though I'll be a little further north soon. I'd travel to see her! 5. Anyone heard of Miranda Lee Richards? I was checking out Leona Naess's latest and this was offered at amazon.com at a discount. I listened to a few track samples and went out to Best Buy and snapped the album up. Along with Tom McRae's debut album it has become my favorite recent purchase of the last few moments. It's got a great vibe too it, especially songs like Ella, Folkin' Hell, The Long Goodbye and most especially I Know What It's Like. You've all suggested such great artists I had to suggest one myself. I think you'll like her. See below. ;-) It's about OLP lead singer Raine Maida. I'll refrain from further comment, but Sarah changed her mind on the issue and hasn't sung it in years. I can't even believe it's actually circulating out there - her crowds back in those days were tiny, and none of us were taping. >2. I downloaded a track called "Yellowbelly." I have all of Sarah's albums >and EP's. So, what is this? Is it even her? That's a local friend of Emm Gryner's and Sarah's named Dylan White that goes by the musical name Cicero. He's got one album out on Emm's Dead Daisy Records label, and Emm sings backup on two songs, and Sarah does the gorgeous vocals on "Yellowbelly". Great album, well-written tunes - Dylan's never quite gotten off the ground as far as his musical career is concerned, but I think he's one of those artists that'd just be happy siting in a room somewhere writing music. You can get his album, "Out of Nowhere", at http://www.deaddaisy.com. >3. Julia. Dl'ed a live version of Our Lady of Peace's version. I love the >song... but I don't like the way OLP sings it. I suppose this fits into the verboten 'b**tleg' issue on this list (see the FAQ), but yes, her piano version is out there in cyberspace, and it's a radical - and beautiful - reworking of OLP's grinding rock original (one of the few OLP songs I actually *do* like). They played her version during their stadium tour a few years back ('97, I believe?). - - T. :) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Nov 2001 10:45:34 -0500 From: What? There was some talk of putting Voices On The Verge on the show (they were desperate for a Philly show on that date to help out with their tour, and we're a very helpful bunch), but that isn't going to happen. Sorry for any confusion this caused -- it never should have been made public until all the pesky details were worked out (which never happened). I think somebody mentioned a Beatles cover album a few posts back. Does anyone have more details on what it was called, when it was released, etc. I'm trying to find it and have had no luck so far (maybe it's just a US/Canada release, who knows). Thanks, Sharon. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2001 12:27:14 -0500 (EST) From: "Julian C. I do understand the policy towards MP3's and bootlegs. Though, to be honest, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be a fan of Sarah's. After buying Sarah Harmer's CD I went looking for live stuff and found her version of "My Invitation" and I loved it so much I found the original version and downloaded a few other tracks to sample. Now I've purchased the album and both EP's. I just use the net to download live stuff and to sample artists. Unfortunately I know I'm probably in the minority.
