"It's a horrible show." I'd already forgotten about that show. Lol. Did anyone watch the entire season??? Actually I read something kind of sad recently, and if you watched the show (I think I watched maybe 2 eps to see if Sarah would be in it, but I didn't pay much attention at all), the person who won, his name was Angel, was a firefighter in NYC and unfortunately was one of the first at the WTC and is among the missing. Hey, all... Just wanted to reassure those who have been getting a little flustered over Monday night's show at Ted's... You don't have to buy tickets ahead of time or anything - the shows are quite popular, yes, but aren't ever sold out to the point of totally filling the club or anything. Just show up around 9, 9:30 and pay the cover at the door. The show itself is an excellent singer-songwriter showcase where the roster of guest artists take turns playing and talking about their tunes, and often everyone else on stage will join and and jam along if they feel so inspired. ;) Things get underway around 10, and there's usually two sets with a bit of a break in the middle, with each artist playing about 4 songs per rotation. The host of these 'Radio Mondays' is local singer-songwriter Jason Collett, and he's done a great job of picking up where Andy Stochansky left off last year... He's got a lovely, rootsy new album out himself featuring many of the usual local suspects (Lenni Jabour, Feist, Andrew Cash), proving that the connections people are making at these shows are coming to fruition! ;) It's just really nice to see the huge breadth of talent and the supportive, convivial atmosphere of the local music scene as manifested by this series - as Andy Stochansky marvelled to me earlier this summer, "It's just such a great tying up of *community*, and it could only happen here. Toronto is an amazing city for that kind of stuff." :-) So if anyone goes tomorrow night, enjoy, and do let us know how it went! And hey, Radio Mondays continues, so keep an eye out for future lineups, and go support the local talent! - - Tab :) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ End of navy-soup-digest V4 #117 *******************************
