I'm in nyc and I'm ok. All of my friends and people that I love are home, they're safe and I am unbelievably happy for that. This is the most incomprehensible thing I could have ever imagined to happen. I think we're all just sitting in shock, the whole world....I've just been sitting here for hours watching this. I didn't really get to see what happened, i only heard what was going on through radio. Thank you. Goodluck to all of you my prayers are with you. She lives in New Jersey, where my sister is...but my sister went to her place and waited for her all night....she never came home. Jeannie, Kim's sister, was visiting her. My family is very very worried...my grandmother has already lost hope. Please if you hear anything...if you could do anything to help...I would greatly appreciate it. I don't know what I can do besides feel scared inside, yet be brave and keep going about my work.... Please....help... Benefit concerts don't just happen, but in this case it's a good idea for a more long-term response. These things take time, particularly if you actually want to make money and not lose your shirt on it. I have experience with putting on such events (though, truth be told, I just got through with one and I need a rest!), and would be happy to provide advice. For more of a short-term solution, millions of Americans are in the process of receiving very ill-advised (imo) tax refund checks, in amounts of either $300 or $600. It's very easy to sign one over to a relief organization. The United Way has started a relief fund, the details of which are at http://national.unitedway.org/crisis.cfm. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ End of navy-soup-digest V4 #106 *******************************
