Hello all! Finally, after the hassles of moving into university residence and dealing with the pains of network connections and defunct e-mail addresses are (hopefully somewhat) cooled, I can return to my favourite list in all the world! I missed the wonderful intellectual banter which daily brightened my inbox. :-) Any way, I was at the concert at the Riv. on the 28th, but I didn't see any faces that I know from the list (ie, James, Tab, Rannie, and so on...) Of course, I've been out of the Slean-loop for the whole summer and up until now, so I know very litte any way... Well, just glad to be back with all you marvellous people! - - Christine Evans :-) missionaryzeal@hotmail.com http://nevermind.thesociety.net _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Well, the illustrious Mr. McGarry was there, along with Steve, Tab, myself and Ms. Gryner. I met Mike from ecto. that was about it. :) My friend Ryan and I were sitting in about the second row, to Sarah's right, near the intoxicated guy who kept talking to Sarah during the show. Can someone help me with the setlist? I have: 1. Sweet Ones 2. Duncan 3. Me I'm a Thief (?) 4. Me and Jerome 5. Twin Moon 6. ???? - Kurt Swinghammer on acoustic, Sarah singing 7. Everything by the _____ (?) 8. My Invitation 9. Weight 10. Elliot 11. Bank Accounts (encore #1) 12. Bulletproof 13. ????? - lyric "why do i hide from you / why do i play this game" (encore #2) 14. ????? - "this is about trying to drink away your sorrows" also: does anyone have the lyrics to "Bank Accounts"? this was truly a great show. some old stuff, some really old stuff, some unreleased stuff and several songs i hadn't heard before. sarah was in fine form, very confident and gracious. Can't figure out what #6 was, it's slipped my mind #7 was "Everything by the Gallon" #13 was "Closer" (lyrics also, "paralyzed and freezing..." right?) #14 was a cover of Jeff Buckley's/J. Shelton's "Lilac Wine" And I don't know if the Thief song was, "Me, I'm A Thief" or, "Me, I'm THE Thief." I'm also interested in the "Bank Accounts" lyrics, if anyone managed to catch them. I looked around for you guys, but I guess my vision is untrained. Oh, well. Next time (next time... did she say November???) No "Last Year's War"! :-( Oh, well... I guess I can survive until November. Ah, yes, you were near the obnoxious drunken fellow. Well, you have to admit that referring to the French horn as a "butt trumpet" was pretty humourous. I'm also interested in the lyrics from "Closer" if anyone has them. I keep hearing the song at concerts, but also keep forgetting to ask for the lyrics. So if anyone can help out... Also - any updates on the video (that I couldn't help out with due to surgery-inflicted incapacity - blasts and fogs!) Last I heard was James saying that it was very nice... any idea of when we might be able to take a peek at it? I agree with woj... MUST I like Dawson's Creek to like Sarah? You'd think that after the description of "deep, complex emotions" and however else they categorized her music, they could think up a slightly deeper, complex correlation... (Nothing against those who enjoy the show, of course). I've been meaning to post this for a while and this is a perfect segue http://www.crosswinds.net/~dj0/ssvid_main.html Thumbnails to follow some day soon. I have never heard her do this (but then again I've only seen her perform once and it was at my house). I am a huge Jeff Buckley fan and would absolutely LOVE to hear this!! Which would be an interesting contrast to "I Want to Be Brave." I want to be brave but... well, I guess I wasn't brave at all. Like a little sequel! :-) And yes, I was once a big fan of Dawson's... up until about the middle of the second season, I guess. Then I just stopped watching, for some reason. But I have nothing against the show, don't worry. :-) James, the stills of the video shoot are wonderful - thanks for putting up the link. Are they all yours? There are some *great* shots up there. And (either James or anyone else who attended the shoot) - what was the concept exactly? Was it mostly performance-centred (ie, Sarah singing and playing or whatever), or did it have a mini-narrative...? I'm extremely bitter for missing it, so anyone who can fill me in would be very much appreciated. Was it mostly performance-centred (ie, Sarah singing and playing or > whatever), or did it have a mini-narrative...? I'm extremely bitter for A good deal of performance stuff, and a mini-narrative. Basically, Sarah finds dead boy in the river, drags him to her 'shack', cares for him, then 'poof' he's gone. In a nutshell that's it. James. *P.S. To Christine, the B&W's are from 2.5"x2.5" negatives shot with a medium format Yashica 124G using T400-CN (processed C41). Since there's no spot metering on it, the light levels were pretty much guessed. The first Sarah shot (if it doesn't fit in your browser window add a 'md' before the .jpg) is my all-time favourite. Though I do like the one with Cherie and Sarah talking in that format as well. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Oct 2000 14:34:24 -0700 (PDT) From: Bloo Subject: OAC: Sarah Harmer in Seattle on Saturday What a pleasant surprise to find that she was playing an in-store at Starbuck's coffee here on Saturday. I had no idea she was out here touring. It even seems she has been getting a bit of airplay here too *gasp* 8-} So, myself and several friends met up and enjoyed the show. Never having heard her before, I was very surprised at how *good* her voice and music were. (Not that I should be, since y'all usually rave about her here.) Just wanted to bring up the fact that she IS touring widely right now, so keep an eye or two peeled for her to be in your area. - -Brian NP: You Were Here Brian Wilson --------------------------"Those aren't Sex muffins! -Coach bloo@blooberry.com ---------------------Those aren't Love muffins! http://www.blooberry.com ---------------Those are just BLOOberry muffins!"
