The dates are July 8th and 9th at Fort York. This year's performers include Blue Rodeo, Spirit of the West, Tara MacLean, Iris Dement and Colin James. The Crue have joined forces with Camp Chaos Entertainment, the web-based animators that produced the "Napster BAD!" Metallica spoof that recently flooded the Internet. Together, they've produced "MetalliGreed," which features bassist Nikki Sixx, vocalist Vince Neil, and allegedly, guitarist Mick Mars sharing their opinions on Metallica's stance against Napster -- and by extension, the band's fans. In the clip, Sixx says, "You know, perhaps you guys have read about the controversy surrounding Napster and MP3 music on the Internet? You know, as far as we're concerned, it's all f---ing bulls--t." Sixx then continues, "You know, we've been in the music business long enough to know why bands like 'MetalliGreed' have taken such extreme measures to kill Napster and humiliate their fans. You know why? Two words -- summer tour." Neil, whose cartoon likeness is reading from a script, adds, "What a group of cranky, moody a--holes." After a pause while he scans the script, Neil goes on to say, "I mean, they employ a f---ed-up gimmick like a lawsuit to stir up press and media attention, just to promote their f---ing tour." Sixx then continues the point, while proving that Motley Crue has a sense of humor about the whole situation, when he says, "I mean, they're suing their fans to promote their tour. That's f---ing ass-backwards. What's next, Lars? What? A f---ing cheap-ass web cartoon to plug your tour? We'd never sink that low." During the cartoon, mention is made of the new Motley Crue album, New Tattoo, and their Maximum Rock 2000 tour with Megadeth and Anthrax. The tour dates, which kick off June 24 at the Sacramento Valley Amphitheatre near Sacramento, California, scroll over the screen at the end of the clip. On a slightly serious note, during the clip, Neil does says that Motley Crue supports the exchange of MP3 files using Napster and the Internet by fans of the band. - -- Bruce Simon, New York ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 May 2000 19:40:32 PDT From: "Tab Siddiqui" Subject: OAC/BST: Summer Gigs...
