Hi! Sara inquired: >Yeah i like it - but its def not sarah - she is harsher or something - but i >still like it. Who is she? does she have an album out? Pepper McGowan (nee Acton) is from Ohio. She has an album called _Marrow_. There is info at , also her site is at . If you liked the sample I'm sure you'll like the album too. +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille | | *** TRAJECTORY, the Veda Hille mailing list: *** | | *** http://www.smoe.org/meth/trajectory.html *** | +==========================================================================+ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 May 2000 07:55:15 +0200 From: Leon van Stuivenberg Subject: Re: [tangential] MP3 quality... Artifacts from mp3 encoding don't sound like whatever is hearable in those samples. Try checking/listening to the .wav/aiff file before encoding it; if the same errors are there, you'll know where the problem lies. I work in the same office as NxNE headquarters, so I can just see the panic on the NxNE crew's faces as the festival approaches right around the corner... ;-) Anyhow, here's my picks as the listings stand right now. They're unintentionally media/biz-friendly "buzz" picks, so my advice is to get to most of these a slot or two beforehand if you even want to get in. A star denotes a must-see, and if anyone wants info on any of the bands they haven't heard of, drop me a line... June 8: Cicero - Cameron House, 9 pm (get out and support Dead Daisy, dammit!) *Zoebliss - C'est What, 1 am (they are so freakin' good these days it just kills me ;)) Lori Cullen - Free Times, 11 pm *Danny Michel - Ted's, 12 am Holly Go Lightly - Clinton's, 10 pm Jennifer Foster - Cameron House, 10 pm June 9: Flux A.D. - Barcode, 1 am (cool atmospheric band from Hamilton) New Deal - Reverb, 12 am Katherine Wheatley - Oasis, 9 pm *Anne McCrue - C'est What, 9 pm (some of you might be interested to know that Anne is/was? a member of Aussie group Eden A.K.A. that performed at the Toronto Lilith Fair last year) *B'ehl - Cameron House, 11 pm (vocal harmony group from Winnipeg, critically acclaimed, lots of buzz on them) June 10: Christine Fellows - Cameron House, 10 pm Andrea Florian - Holy Joe's, 1 am *Starling - Ted's, 12 am Kathryn Rose - Holy Joe's 10 pm *Mia Sheard - C'est What, 12 am Have fun, kids... As it was mentioned before www.peppermcgowan.com is her website. When I first discovered her, I was in shock of how I thought her music sounded like mine -- on estrogen. Which was a big surprise because I never was able to compare to sombody before, and I was glad that someone else out there had the same style. Since then I've become on-line friends with her, and boy is she a wierd one! But very very cool.
