Hi Sara and everyone else.... > i was on n*pster the other day and there was a song that is said > to be by sarah called molly? Cept it doesn't really sound like sarah. I went there, downloaded it, and it's Pepper McGowan. At first when the piano played I was like, yeah, this is familiar, but then when she started singing I knew it was her and the reason that it is familiar is that I downloaded it from MP3 and I listen to it quite a lot. Not Sarah, but still a good song! > There was another song Last years war which i know is sarah and > cause i have heard you guys talk about it before... I downloaded that one too and it's only 56 second long. It's really just Sarah explaining the meaning of the song then a bar or two from the beginning. It's really a small file. ~Amy Women In Music http://www.ecalos.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 May 2000 11:40:27 -0400 From: What? Just a question, since we're talking about this anyway -- does anyone else find that mp3 quality is not that great? Maybe it's just my computer or something, but I made a bunch really for myself (of my own stuff, don't worry, nothing illegal! ;) ) and they sound like crap... The actual tracks on cd sound so much better... I use Music Match to make them -- if anyone has suggestions, please email me off the list... Also, to listen to mp3s I use Real Audio 7 -- is there anything better (for free) out there? Maybe it's my computer (which is only 6 months old). Email me privately -- Thanks! The problem with Music Match is that the free version only encodes stuff at 96 kbps and I believe that RealPlayer 7 is the same way. For best results, you need a program that will let you record at 128kbps or 168kbps. The resulting MP3s will be larger, but they will sound a heck of a lot better. - - Julian [ Julian C. Actually I have the upgraded version of Music Match now that lets me do it at 128 ... and they still sound that way :/ Grr.. I spent so many hours ripping the damn things and waiting while they uploaded (it takes 50 min. on mp3.com) ... and some of them won't even play right... I have some audio software on my computer, maybe I should mess around w/ the quality of the audio tracks that way, then convert them to mp3s, then upload... I have Cakewalk and something like ProTools, not that I ever use them...
