Thanks to everyone who made the house concerts a great amount of fun... It was excellent to get out and meet some of you folks (and some of you folks again). Hope to see you soon. Best, Heather. > > (??? Oh Susanna song w/ Sarah Harmer) > > Again, no help from me as to the name, but Sarah Harmer referred to it > as a "love song", instead of a murder ballad, or something to that effect. > (And lord knows, I loved hearing her talk about "murder ballads" just after > she was locked out of the house for a few minutes in the rain... :) Alabaster? Or Tangled and Wild, or the Cherry Song. Any of those could be considered Suzie's love songs. Oh Susanna is quite famous for her murder ballads. Though I'm more partial to the historical stuff like "Jackson Wilson". Never tell Suzie this but I think I've figured a good harmonica part to this. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Mar 2000 10:48:37 PST From: "Tab Siddiqui" Subject: Re: Saturday's LRC's Christine wrote: >YOU DID????? Finch" Subject: Re: Boston LRC / Oh Susanna song The Sarahs also did Oh Susanna's "Alabaster" at last week's Brandeis show. What a beautiful song. I've heard Oh Susanna's name mentioned on various listservs I'm on and after hearing that song I'm finally interested enough in seeking out some of her music. Anyone know of a website where I can find out more about her music and hopefully find out how to order a CD to sample it first hand. I'm so glad that Sarah Harmer was a part of this mini-tour. I went to the Brandeis show to see Sarah Slean and left completely enamored with Sarah Harmer's music. What a beautiful voice. I went to the Saturday afternoon's LRC just as excited to see Sarah Harmer as I was to see Sarah Slean. I've been listening to Sarah Harmer's CD non-stop ever since. I would have gladly driven to Worcester for Saturday evening's show but I was already scheduled to babysit. I'm happy to say that at Saturday afternoon's LRC Sarah Slean played "Sadie" just for me. I heard her play it back in November at a LRC here in Boston. She introduces the song talking about her maternal urgings and having written the song for the daughter she might have one day. Being that I'm in my late 20s and I'm having the same feelings I'm immediately intrigued. Then she says that the song is called "Sadie." Talk about going straight to the heart. My grandmother's name is Sadie and I've always thought about naming a daughter Sadie. And of course since she hasn't recorded Sadie that's the only time I've ever it. I told Sarah this after the Brandeis show and asked her if there was any chance she could play it the next day and she did! It was even more beautiful than I remember it being. I actually teared up. It made my day to hear that song again. I'm just hoping it makes it to the next CD! rox ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ rdfinch@mindspring.com http://roxanne.finch.org And I saw it on tv, They were selling pieces of heaven "Angel" And I thought, hey what about me? --Sarah Slean When am I considered? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Mar 2000 22:47:28 -0500 From: "Christine Evans" Subject: Re: Sarah Slean unknown song lyrics! - -----Original Message----- From: Sophie To: NavySoup Date: Wednesday, March 29, 2000 8:18 PM Subject: Fw: Sarah Slean unknown song lyrics!
