Sarah is also supposed to be making an appearance at the HMV flagship store on Yonge street that very same day sorry for the oneliner Rannie http://www.aquezada.com/~rannie Next Toronto show is Nov. 4 at the Riv? Does anyone have any bright ideas of how I could give the appearance of being 19 years old? (I so want to go!) Something tells me that the security would not accept, "But I'm a few months away from 19 and I won't do anything illegal in there I SWEAR." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 1999 12:57:37 -0400 From: what@ican.net (What? Management) Subject: HMV instore November 4th... Hi there Soupers... Sarah is indeed performing at HMV (333 Yonge). It's a 6pm set, and will probably be more "stripped down" musician-wise than the set at the Rivoli. The Rivoli cover will be $6, and we're shooting for Sarah to hit the stage at around 10:30. We haven't confirmed an opener yet. And a note to Christine - one of my friends will be doing the door at the Riv, so unless you try to order some drinks (or start a brawl or something), chances are you'll be okay with getting in... Best to everyone, Heather. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 1999 16:41:15 -0400 From: "Jarita Lee" Subject: Re: HMV instore November 4th... > Sarah is indeed performing at HMV (333 Yonge) i need to know which station i get off to go to HMV if I'm taking the subway....and after getting off the subway, where do i go? Not that I'm complaining or anything. I was also pretty surprised that the Edge was presenting two such 'sensitive' artists. Normally whenever I turn my dial to 102.1 FM, some angry individual is screaming at me to kill my parents. A few of my edge-listening friends were also shocked that a singer named Sarah Slean did indeed exist and wasn't just something that I made up to sound as if I got out of the house once in a while. I even heard her name passed around the highschool halls a few days before the show. (A shock considering that highschool hallways are a breeding ground for talk of boy bands and Britney Spears). So to hear the name, "Sarah Slean", even if it was followed by a, "Who's she?" "Ah, I dunno", was certainly something new. > >Shame on all those Toronto-area folks who didn't make it down in time because >they SLEPT IN, and hence missed "Last Year's War". That song alone would be >enough to drag me out of bed. I was so amazingly happy that Sarah played Last Year's War (although, after she started playing it, I automatically became drenched with saddness). And yes, people definitely should have been out of bed for that one... I simply can't get enough of that song! Stupidly, though, all I can remember is the melody of the chorus, so that's all I can hum. :-( People are becoming annoyed with the fact that I'm constantly repeating it. >I also saw you, Christine, but I didn't know who you were until I >asked James (because you had been asking him about his camera) and you'd run >off to talk to Sarah already. Well, maybe now that I can recognize you, I'll >introduce myself next time... James pointed in the direction that (I guess) you were standing, but I mistook him and ended up walking up to some innocent man and asking, "Are you a Navy Souper?" To which I received a frightened, confused look in reply. Obviously not you. (The perils of e-mail communication). Any way, I ended in packing my camera and trying to look efficient, as if I approached strangers every day and inquired about their Navy Soup status. Oh, well - next show I'm sure I'll avoid confusion, and I look forward to meeting you and everybody else on this list! >>you'd run off to talk to Sarah already That makes it sound like I talk to her all the time - wow! Saturday is actually the first time that I've ever been within 4 feet of Sarah, let alone spoken to her. I convinced myself that I would have something concise, witty, complimentary, and memorable to say to her once I finally DID meet her, but fate never works in my favour. I ended up blurting out something that not even I remember, and which certainly didn't coincide with any of the above ideal adjectives; making some kind of miming cheering action, saying the word 'super' about a dozen times, clumsily shaking hands, and then running away out of sheer embarrassment. It was rather reminiscent of that scene from Dirty Dancing. "What are you doing here?" "Oh, I'm just carrying a watermelon. [Aside] I'm carrying a WATERMELON?" Heather, I promise not to start any brawls on Nov. 4th. (As difficult as it is for me to control myself, I'll try. :-) ) Hopefully I will not be hassled regarding my inadequate age. And hopefully my mother will be compliant this time. I will now beg every Souper to try and mentally contact my mother through ESP or some other kind of mind-meld, and attempt to convince her that I should be allowed to attend. Any way, this has been a rambling e-mail. Can you tell I'm trying to avoid homework? (There should be a disclaimer: *Please do not utilize the Navy Soup mailing list for the purpose of avoiding homework* :-) ) Talk to you guys soon. Love you all, - - Christine Evans :-) evans_ent@msn.com http://nevermind.thesociety.net ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 1999 19:40:31 -0400 From: "Jarita Lee" Subject: Re: eaton centre show & nov. 4th So to hear the name, "Sarah Slean", even if it was followed by a, > "Who's she?"
