Hello All, Sarah performed really well at the Eaton Centre show (but what else is new? :-) ) I was very pleased to finally be able to meet some of you: James (thank you for forgiving my obsession with your camera, which I probably would have run off with had I been in a more rebellious mood :-) ), and Tab. Hopefully, soon, we'll all figure out who's who in real life. :-) It was certainly a different setting for a Slean concert, but it was interesting to be surrounded by people who didn't know her. (Especially when they made impressed little noises or said something complimentary, and you could think, "But I've known that all along!") As always, Sarah was witty and personable with her audience, and passionate in performance. She also skirted a grumpy old man's not-so-friendly complaint very pleasantly (where a weaker person - ie me - would have just thrown something at him). She also performed a song that I haven't heard before, called 'Closer', consisting of just her, the piano, and backup vocals. It was SUCH a beautiful, soul-breathing song............... w o w. And of course, just to ensure that I shook even MORE with tears while I tried to aim a blastedly heavy zoom lens at her (the first time I've ever been intelligent enough to drag a reliable camera along to a show), she also sang 'Last Year's War.' Good lord, that song!!! Sooner or later I'm just going to realize that I'm going to have to drag a video camera down to a show in order to record that song, and listen to it again and again and again and again at home. Any way, a great show. As someone commented behind me regarding the hushed and reverent atmosphere during her performance of 'Closer', "I've never heard Yonge St. quieter." Next Toronto show is Nov. 4 at the Riv? Does anyone have any bright ideas of how I could give the appearance of being 19 years old? (I so want to go!) Something tells me that the security would not accept, "But I'm a few months away from 19 and I won't do anything illegal in there I SWEAR." Any way, talk to you soon. Love you all, - - Christine Evans :-) evans_ent@msn.com http://nevermind.thesociety.net ------------------------------ End of navy-soup-digest V2 #143 *******************************
