It is in the tradition of "Pie > Jesu" from the Universe CD. I am glad to see this from someone else. That was my first thought when I heard it - that "Pie Jesu" was her interpretation of a hymn-like choir piece...it always struck me as though it might have been a piece she performed at school that grabbed her fancy so much she put it on Universe...But it always seemed out of place to me on Universe compared to her other songs. And then we have Awake Soon... where Sarah seems to have absorbed and made her own all that Pie Jesu had to teach. Damn, just look at the result - This song is a magnificent creation. - -Brian - -- Brian Wilson -----------------------"Those aren't Sex muffins! -Coach bloo@blooberry.com ------------------Those aren't Love muffins! http://www.blooberry.com/ -----------Those are just BLOOberry muffins!" Just as a couple of people have said with Playing Cards, I seem to get an entire "video" in my head when I hear Eliot...It is mostly because of the accordian effect which evokes a strong "french cafe" connection. I always imagine a french cafe, with windows offering a glimpse of L'Arc or La Tour with Sarah playing with a full band, delivering the lyrics in murky darkness under a single spot, a red and white striped snug muscle shirts that you stereotypically imagine all those suave French men wearing on the Seine, and a black beret half covering an eye. Along with this, I imagine close-ups of most/all of the members of the band and some of the waitresses too (and waiters!), and they are all played by Sarah to add a lighter touch to the setup. I should really go to bed and wait to post my Blue Parade review in the morning... After all, the post has been on my hard drive for almost two weeks now. - -Brian - -- Brian Wilson -----------------------"Those aren't Sex muffins! -Coach bloo@blooberry.com ------------------Those aren't Love muffins! http://www.blooberry.com/ -----------Those are just BLOOberry muffins!" (yes you may all shoot me now for grinding away at that cliche) I was at a formal dinner last night (it's an annual event) and I was thinking how it only seemed like last week that I was in the same venue! BTW brian, I just looked at the list archives... digest #2 was a message from you to Jess, but you posted it to the list because at that point, it was only us three on it :) - - Julian - -- Julian C.
