Accidently taped CBC *2* instead of CBC *1* this morning and ended up with some very boring chamber music instead of "This Morning". Did anyone happen to tape Sarah's segment? Let me know if you did... Aside from that, if anyone managed to even *listen* to it, do let the rest of us know how it went... - - Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Sep 1999 21:12:54 PDT From: "Tab Siddiqui" Subject: Re: Sarah on CBC... Yeah, so I'm kind of replying to my own message, as pathetic as that very well may be... ;-P Luckily I remembered that they re-run the best bits of "This Morning" at 8 p.m. every weeknight, and luckily, tonight's 're-run' included the entire Sarah segment! Got it on tape, so I'm quite pleased. :) I was quite pleasantly surprised at how much time Sarah got - usually the musical guests don't get to play nearly as much as she did, based on the past shows I've listened to - but Sarah and the whole band ran through "Playing Cards With Judas", and "Twin Moon", she played "Blue Parade" solo, and then the whole gang played the show out with a bit of "Before Your Time". Wow! :) Sounded *incredible*, of course, with a special nod going to Sjanie's BG vocals and Kurt's bizarre and beautiful electric geetar noodling. ;-) In between songs, the host (a very dry and serious guy filling in for usual host Michael Enright - I'd've loved to hear Enright interview Sarah - *that* would have been interesting ) interviewed Sarah - pretty routine questions, but he had a great technique of picking up on her responses and drawing out a further, more detailled answer. It's actually something they try to teach us in Journalism school, but frankly, I think it's something almost innate - you have to be a very good listener. Anyhow, Sarah was her usual eloquent yet adorable self, even managed to get off a good line about her love of the cello. ;-)! But my favorite part of the segment had to be her intro to 'Blue Parade': "Basically, this song is about being treated really badly in matters of the heart, and refusing to give up the thought that maybe there's still a good guy out there that's ... that'll make it all better. That sounded horrible! You know what I mean... Having hope." Oh, Sarah! ;-) :-) Man, it was good to hear Sarah on the radio. Can't *wait* for the Mountain Stage set now. :-) - - Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of navy-soup-digest V2 #124 *******************************
