So is emm gryner!! [Jon Akers Hi all, Well, FWIW, she did "Black Boys on Mopeds" at the Edmonton show at the Sidetrack, plus "Ogoni Star", which was absolutely stunning. This is definitely one song I was hoping would be on _Blue Parade_, but oh well...the record's gorgeous even without it. Hmm i thought that subject line would get your attention... Anyway, as most of you know i was in a car accident on Tuesday evening... Well what you may or may not know was that I was listening to Sarah Slean at the time when I was driving... And you know... i think I got distracted by the music part and partial.... cause I was driving... happily listen to Sarah, the next thing I know, I am rear ending another car. I haven't heard that one, or "Rockstar" in the year and a half or so of gigs I've been to. look at it this way: material for record #3 :-) Paul shad 96c / 3B CS / mac activist / eda / fumbler fan of / jewel / sophie b. / sarah slean / steve poltz / emm gryner / / x-files / buffy / dawson's creek / habs / bills / 49ers / t h i n k d i f f e r e n t. i chained my angel to the eavestrough / it was november and i think i pissed him off / - -- Sarah Slean, "Angel" ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Sep 1999 17:36:34 -0400 From: "Christine Evans" Subject: Okay, I'm ready. Hey All, All right. I'm ready. Lay it on. Tell me all about the 5 song set that I missed last night at the Rivoli, due completely to the 19+ status and my mum's worries that I'd come home dead. Which songs did she play, considering that she was solo? What was everyone's opinion? Steve wrote: > I like her Lilac >Wine cover, but my favourite of her covers is Famous Blue Raincoat by >Leonard Cohen. My lord, I would do just about anything (well... not ANYthing... I do have limits) to hear Sarah play this song. It's definitely one of my favourite songs on the planet, and to hear Sarah play it would be absolutely incredible. *Melt* :-) Also, I noticed the revised concert list... one on Thurs. Nov. 4th. At the Rivoli. Hmph, yet more discrimination against us under 19's who have great taste? No fair!! Now I have to think of scheming and unlawful ways to look 19. Do you think if I were to enter the Riv smoking several cigarettes and a cigar (at the same time), and carrying a beer keg over my shoulder, I'd pass for a 19 pluser? Because I'll do it!!! :-) Any way, I'd love to hear everyone's opinion on Sarah's set last night. (I KNOW it was great, I'd just like to know HOW great. So I can be bitter. :-) ) Love you all, - - Christine Evans :-) evans_ent@msn.com http://www.angelfire.com/id/thepiano/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Sep 1999 19:44:44 EDT From: Songbird22@aol.com Subject: Re: Sarah Slean is dangerous!! So is emm gryner!! Hmmm...you know, I can attest to this fact that listening to Sarah whilst driving is dangerous. I remember last year in the spring, driving my black Ford Explorer along the west coast of Washington state, listening to Sarah as I was driving down a dirt path. She does make you drive a bit too fast. I was driving too fast in this case, lost control, ran into the mountainside and managed to flip my truck completely over, to land on it's wheels again. Had to get a tow truck out to reinflate two of the tires, then drove it home 300 miles. Once the insurance company looked at it, the totaled it and cut me a check for me to get a new vehicle. So I got a Mercury Mystique and was quite happy, as were two other people later on that year during Lilith in the back seat, not that I am going to mention any names here. Strangely enough, a couple of months ago when I turned 27, my insurance rates dropped about $400 a year... - -----Original Message----- From: Songbird22@aol.com [SMTP:Songbird22@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, September 23, 1999 7:45 PM To: rturingan@dico.com; navy-soup@smoe.org Subject: Re: Sarah Slean is dangerous!!
