That really is awesome news! :) For anyone that doesn't know, Mountain Stage is an incredible radio show in the US that showcases live music by folk-pop artists. They usually pick deserving but not widely known artists - - tons of Canadian acts were introduced to the US market on Mountain Stage before anyone had even heard of them - Sarah McLachlan, Barenaked Ladies, Moxy Fruvous, Blue Rodeo among others. There's actually several Mountain Stage compilation CDs available with live songs from the program, but they tend to be very uneven in terms of quality - however, there is one called "Canadians on Mountain Stage" that is excellent - I think it's still available in stores if you dig, or it probably can be ordered. it has live acoustic songs from Sarah, BNL, Moxy Fruvous, Blue Rodeo, The Rankins (who I usually can't stand, but they do a lovely Gaelic ballad), Bruce Cockburn, Cowboy Junkies and others. It's a must-have for fans of Canadian folk-pop, and I highly recommend it. Anyhow, what a great thing for Sarah - it's *national*, folks! :) We'd better get out American friends to tape this sucker for us "Mountain Stage"-less Canucks. ;-) (Yeah, yeah, there's always RealAudio. ;-P) - - Tab :) NP: Tori Amos, "To Venus and Back" (Disc 1) [Wow. Hey! I've actually suggested that Sarah (and that other Sarah.. Mc someting) work with BT. His stuff is cool! I like that _Spine_ CD where Sarah does some vocal work. Its cool, she has the perfect voice for dancy/techno tracks. :-) > *wishing I could hear these songs, but in the end having to joke about > them instead* I wish everyone could hear them as well... ...there are quite a few that don't get played regularly that are just marvelous. I think the last time was at a gig where I specifically asked for it. And there's at least _one_ song ("Hunter") even _I've_ never heard, its only been played twice live (it requires the full band and Sjanie)and at least one other ("Empty the Cup") that I've heard only once live (excepting "Awake Soon" which would be hard to do live...) ... ...but beyond this, ya know if Sarah wants to let go of some of the older stuff, she's gotta grow.
