The cd release was my first Sarah concert. I was absolutely stunned .. goodness. Definately worth the drive from Michigan! Toronto is lovely, too. Got to meet some other fans, Chris & Andrew, the guys from Rochester NY (mail me!) and pick up my new favorite cd, Blue Parade. Thanks Sarah. :) So after I went to Lilith Fair. I should have stayed and seen Sarah & Emm again, cause lilith was an anti-climax. Sheryl Crow & Sarah M. were all fancy stage setups and lights. Twas ok, but not stirring. I am definately coming back. Love you all~ Sophie ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Aug 1999 17:23:08 -0400 (EDT) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: Sarah in 'Now' magazine On Fri, 13 Aug 1999, Julian C. It was a complete surprise! Sarah was very thrilled and honoured! :-) It was a nice kudo and a very appropriate time to bestow it on her. BTW kids, you rock! It was a great time. Its too bad I didn't meet more people, next time, I think we need name tags :-) James. ========================================================================== James McGarry | jmcgarry@UoGuelph.CA - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- An artist should be fit for the best society and keep out of it. - - John Ruskin ========================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Aug 1999 19:43:11 -0400 From: Tim Miller Subject: CD Release Parties yes. the rochesterians are home again. we got in 3 sarahs and an emm and a half. thursday night was electric. amazing. ted's was packed and hanging on the performance. we even got "last year's war", which sarah said she had written 4 days before. which is even more amazing, when you think of how quickly the strings (and the band, come saturday afternoon) prepared for it. "bonnie's song", "i know" and "narcolepsy weed" stick out as most memorable to me. probably because it was the first time i'd heard any of them live. but probably also because they were spine-tingley. emm gryner played a few songs to open friday. (she also played a good show saturday night at the CN tower) there seemed to be fewer people there friday, which i thought was strange. kurt is the shit on "habit". ;) i've never seen a concert so soon after coffee and donuts before saturday. still wonderful. i'm getting my first real listen to the album now. but i foresee a nap in my near future. three nights of sleeping in a tent with a railroad running its night-trains 200 feet from the flapstep does this to me. but it was cheap. this album is brilliant. and now that it's out, i can double it with universe and have my first sarah car-tape. watch out, open road. toronto is big. too big, maybe. we easily put in 14 hours worth of walking for the three days. i don't know how i didn't get any blisters. i guess the spirits of TO like me best. i found a moose-quarter, adam.. i'm not out. i guess i can lurk for a few months now. enjoy your new CD, everyone. - -- timmiller * ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Aug 1999 20:28:23 -0400 (EDT) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: CD Release Parties On Sun, 15 Aug 1999, Tim Miller wrote: > "bonnie's song", "i know" and "narcolepsy weed" stick out as most > memorable to me. probably because it was the first time i'd heard any of > them live. but probably also because they were spine-tingley. :-) Bonnie's song rocked. I was getting goosebumps. And I've heard that song, well, _many_ times. It was great. Great!! with strings! For me, probably "Last Years War" was the highlight. I'll type the journal entry: "Maybe if I hear "Last Year's War" a thousand times, I won't want more than anything to just break down and cry. Maybe. Nine hundred and ninety-seven times to go. It is certainly the most powerful thing she's written, so far. So far. Its clear now, more than ever before that Sarah is just beginning to hit her stride; that everything before was just building up to this... this... beginning. Clearly this is just the start of something very big and very special. Think of this folks, as that exciting climb up that oh-so-tall rollercoaster. The one that's about to... ...let go. I think if you attended any one of the three shows that you could consider yourself a part of music history. "In some way I feel special to be recording, documenting and remembering this for posterity. As 'Before Your Time' fades as the final encore on day three of this CD Release Trilogy, I don't feel at all whistful. It is, indeed, a perfect beginning." > emm gryner played a few songs to open friday. Well, there was a heavy industry presence on Thursday that likely could not have been repeated on Friday. It was still a very good crowd. And Saturday afternoon was a very good crowd for a matinee. Kudos. All round. Especially to Heather, Zoe and Amanda. I mean we _all_ know Sarah is "awesome". But so is the rest of the Slean Team! :-) (Forgive me if I missed someone!) > toronto is big. too big, maybe. we easily put in 14 hours worth of TO is big? Really? I just think of is as our cute little town on the Lake. :-) James.
