And lots of other exciting stuff! Hiya folks, Just met with the dynamic duo of Sarah and Heather last week, and things in the slean camp are shifting into high gear with the impending release of Sarah's new CD. First of all, in preparation for the new album, sarahslean.com will soon get a sleek new look, and we'll have a ton of fun new pictures for the viewing enjoyment of all you slean fans out there. Rumours have it that when Sarah was three, she was a blonde! Truth or fiction? See for yourself, coming soon at sarahslean.com! There'll also be several new tourdates up, including a July 11 appearance at the Celebrate Toronto Festival, and dates in Guelph, Ottawa and Wakefield, Quebec. We're aiming to have a brand new, full-length, CD-quality MP3 up on the website for Canada Day (that's July 1st to all you non-Canucks out there), and people can start ordering Sarah's new CD around then. And this brings us to the juicy part of this email! Sarah will have a public album release party on Friday August 13th at Ted's Wrecking Yard in Toronto. You're all welcome to come, of course. However, on Thursday, August 12th, Sarah will be holding a special private "invitation-only" release party and YOU'RE INVITED! Hobnob with the music industry brass! Or rather, let them hobnob with you, her cherished Navy-Soupers! Anyway Sarah wants to meet all of her beloved fans and hopes you can make it to this special event. If you'd like to come, follow the instructions below. The first 100 folks (including guests) to email us will be put on the guest list for the show! If you're travelling in and need a place to stay, post about it in Navy Soup and maybe one of the locals can reserve a special spot on their couch or their floor just for you. To get an invitation to the party, send an email to Heather Pollock with "PARTY AT SLEAN'S ON AUG 12!" in the subject line and the code phrase "One order of Navy Soup please" in the message body. Tell her where you're coming from, how many guests you want to bring (please keep this to a reasonable number, folks!), and a good joke if you've got one. A bad joke will do if you don't know any good ones. Prizes for the best joke and the worst joke. Also let us know if you have any special needs, like if you're under 19 (the legal drinking age in Ontario) or have any special requests. I think this'll be a really great chance for all the far-flung Navy-Soupers to meet each other and Sarah and the hardy Sleanstaff. I am psyched to meet as many of you as possible! I read this a few minutes ago and I just about choked on my Snackwells cereal bar. You know, I'm sick and tired of missing all of these groovy Slean events while I'm stuck in Michigan without car. So, yeah, I'm willing to hitchhike to these events if I have to (I really don't want to....probably not too safe), but I really want to know if there is anyone in Michigan who is going that would be willing to give me a ride :) I'd help with gas and tolls. Pllleeeeaaaze....I've never seen/met Sarah Slean before and she is my absolute *favorite* I'm in Holland, Michigan which is near Grand Rapids (Southwestern Michigan). Anybody feeling pity in their heart make sure you email me :) I'm reading _On the Road_ by Jack Kerouac and feeling adventureous. Wahoo. :) You know you want a travel companion. Its easiest to follow Woodlawn road to Victoria, turn left on Victoria and head out of town. You'll down down a big hill and you should see a road on the way up the other hill, turn right to go to Guelph Lake Conservation Area, you should see signs posted on where to go, there are a couple of roads they block off for entrances and it varies.
