Well, seeing as no one who knows better has offered any information yet, I'll offer what meager knowledge I have; not straying far from the Toronto area is pretty normal for an independent Toronto artist for a number of reasons, one of the chief ones being money. It wasn't all that long ago that she had to work as a bartender to pay the bills (I don't think she is anymore though. Funny, I've never asked her about it...). The first tour for her will inevitably mean losing money, although necessary of course for building up exposure. She would probably have to go on her own for the same reason since it's much more expensive to tour with the whole band, and I know that she doesn't much like doing solo shows anymore, although she's great solo too. A lot of it comes down to finding a good opening slot for a touring band. This year she had opening slots for Moe Berg and Hayden on their tours which worked out really well. And of course in the last few months she's been concentrating on working on the new album. Increasing her touring range has always been in her plans, but like everything else in her career she wants to take it slowly and surely, she's not one to rush things. In other words don't expect a continental tour in January. However once the new album comes out look for some expanded touring including parts of the US, probably opening for someone. Hopefully she'll come near you! Until then as a biased Toronto person I'd urge you to try to catch one of her Toronto Reverb shows even if it means some travelling because although Sarah solo is wonderful, you'll get the whole experience: cello, percussion, a backup singer, strings, all in various configurations and likely a few songs solo as well. These are exciting times to catch her because she's developing so fast, and she introduces so many innovations at her Toronto shows in front of her established fans, and Wednesday's show was an example of that. These magical days are numbered, and I'm savouring them while I can! Steve ------------------------------ End of navy-soup-digest V1 #48 ******************************
