It will likely go higher for things like compilations thanx to our dollar being worth $0.64 US. This has been a debated issue since 1988 since the white tag price should be what vinyl LP's used to be before CD's started entering the picture - around $14.00. I remember really having to think about wanting to pay more than 15.00 for a single LP (as opposed to a double disk release.) When CD's first started showing up they were almost universally $28.00 - 32.00. Insane. Oddly enough the royalties are still based around the price of a vinyl LP. It's a sign that there is a huge need for copyright reform in North America - - but mostly in the US so that everyone else could follow suit. Try looking at the white tag price of any CD in any store. If it's not on sale it should most likely be up around that price. Even A*B out here has white tag prices up around $24.00 for stuff like U2 when they aren't on sale. It all comes down to whether it's a "racked" title or not. (in other words: did they have tons of it on display or just one?) There ya go. ad the ex-retail guy. - -- the machine Adam Drake * Senior Web Developer * Nettwerk Productions adam@nettwerk.com http://www.nettweb.com Give me ambiguity or give me something else. ------------------------------ End of music-issues-digest V1 #11 *********************************
