I've pretty much given up on radio. The only time I listen to it is on the rare occasions that I'm in my car. Those times, I listen to NPR at least half of the time. Pretty sad, considering that Boston is fairly decent in this regard compared to many other cities. Yet it still doesn't have much to offer that I want to hear. - -Justin ------------------------------ Date: 07 Sep 1998 21:56:43 -0400 From: Justin Sheehy Subject: Re: Radio Stations and AAA: Why? Also, that sort of effect has been rapidly accelerating over the past two years or so. I mean, if you look at the leaps and bounds that things have grown by... Five years or so ago I was asked by an only slightly naive friend, "are you on the mosaic yet?". For those of you new to the net, this was really the beginning of the web's existence in the public eye. For better or for worse, the world wide web was about to become the dominant aspect of the internet. About four years ago was when a lot of music-oriented mailing lists such as FTE and Ecto got started, or started to become popular. These lists have had a huge effect. Now, in the past two years, the changes have been even bigger and faster. Radio stations broadcast live on the net so that people aren't limited to their local airwaves. Online music stores have huge selections and offer the ability to hear samples or even whole tracks before you buy. Discussions such as this one can happen. :-) - -Justin ------------------------------ End of music-issues-digest V1 #6 ********************************
