1. ABOUT METAL-DRUMS
====================
Metal-drums is a forum for fans to meet and discuss the music of
Patty Larkin.  All are welcome, but please be aware that there are a
few basic guidelines for the group.  These guidelines are outlined in
Section 4 below, and are aimed at making (and keeping) the list a
friendly place to be.

This list is available in both bounce and digest format.  "Bounce"
means that individual messages will be sent to you as soon as the
list server receives them.  "Digest" means that the list server will
compile all list messages and send them to you as one long message,
either every 24 hours or when a certain size quota is reached,
whichever happens first.  See Section 3 for instructions for
switching between bounce and digest formats.

Metal-drums was established on October 23rd, 1997 by Sherlyn Koo
(sherlyn@pixelopolis.com), and is maintained by Sherlyn and Amy Putnam
(photomonk@earthlink.net).  Thanks to the folks at smoe.org for giving
this list a home.

2. EMAIL ADDRESSES TO REMEMBER

There are three main email addresses to be aware of:

1) METAL-DRUMS@SMOE.ORG - This is the list address.  Any mail sent
        here will automatically be forwarded to all members of the
        mailing list.
2) MAJORDOMO@SMOE.ORG - All majordomo commands should be sent 
here.
3) OWNER-METAL-DRUMS@SMOE.ORG - All mail sent here will 
automatically
        be forwarded to the list owners.

Majordomo commands can also be sent to metal-drums-request@smoe.org
or metal-drums-digest-request@smoe.org, provided you know the correct
command syntax.


3. COMMON MAJORDOMO COMMANDS
============================
This is a list of some of the most commonly used majordomo commands.
These commands should be sent, in the BODY of an email message, to
majordomo@smoe.org.  Where indicated, replace "<your email address>"
with your actual email address.

1) To join the bounce version of the list:
        subscribe metal-drums <your email address>

2) To leave the bounce version of the list:
        unsubscribe metal-drums <your email address>

3) To join the digest version of the list:
        subscribe metal-drums-digest <your email address>

4) To leave the digest version of the list:
        unsubscribe metal-drums-digest <your email address>

5) To switch from bounce to digest:
        unsubscribe metal-drums <your email address>
        subscribe metal-drums-digest <your email address>

6) To switch from digest to bounce:
        unsubscribe metal-drums-digest <your email address>
        subscribe metal-drums <your email address>

7) To find out who is subscribed to the bounce list:
        who metal-drums

8) To find out who is subscribed to the digest list:
        who metal-drums-digest

9) To order the information file for the list:
        info metal-drums

10) To order a help file on majordomo commands:
        help

4. BASIC POSTING GUIDELINES
===========================
These guidelines are intended: a) to try to maintain the friendly
atmosphere of the list; and b) to try to keep the list somewhat
on-topic.  Note that they are only guidelines not unbreakable rules,
and so can be treated with a certain amount of leeway.  This doesn't
mean you can ignore them entirely though!

1) Be nice (we expect everyone to follow this one!)
2) Have fun (ditto)
3) Don't be afraid to post off-topic material if you think it's
        relevant, but
4) Extended off-topic discussions should be taken to private email
5) Personal messages should also be sent via private email
6) Don't flame to the list, even (especially!) in the case of spam
7) Don't forward attachments, chain letters, virus warnings, cookie
        recipes or other messages of this type to the list

This mailing list is NOT moderated.  However, majordomo has some
built-in filters which may forward your mail to the list owners for
"approval" before it is distributed over the list.  Messages which
may require approval include:
   - very long messages
   - messages that the list server mistakes for spam
   - messages containing the words "subscribe" or "unsubscribe"

Messages which are bounced for approval will be processed as soon as
possible.


5. A MESSAGE FOR NEW SUBSCRIBERS
================================
If you are joining this mailing list for the first time, then welcome
to our community!  We look forward to your input.  Don't be shy about
stepping forward to introduce yourself to the list.
