I have a habit of just saving them, and filing later... Anyway, here is a brief look at a few (very few) of the things I saw online last year. Personally, I am always curious about other people's travels (in real life and web) so, I thought I would share a few... (I must stress this is not a top then list, just a travelogue) 1. Wilderness Survival: Could You Survive the Wild? - An ebook covering all aspect If I remember right, this is a cheesy survival quiz based on the Army's survival book. Not a good survival book for the average civilian who gets lost in the park, but contains some solid info. I do not agree some of the question on the quiz, but sort of interesting.. if you take it, let me know how you did. 2. Concrete Info - Everything about Concrete This site will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about concrete, including an online concrete calculator to figure how much concrete one would need..(simple to do in your head anyway, length x width, x height, divided by 27 will be the number of cubic yards..) 3 Trail Journals 2002 - New Version Trail Journals of people that have (and are in the middle of) hiking the 2700 mile Appalachian Trail (and the Pacific Trail) Very interesting, if you are into hiking. 4. The Buddhist Monks of Vietnam Concerns the monk that set himself on fire and silently burned to death in the street in protest. 5. Hitch-hiking - Suite101.com Not the hitchhiking site I wanted to list, but the other keeps timing out... Anyway, info on hitch hiking. 6. True Tao Home Page Actually, I think this is a site that did not get filed last year, but has a rather interesting flash intro, and many solid articles on Taoism. 7 &query=%04%72%e8%43%2e%d7%c7%3c%18%69%f3%94%a1%f5%00%f3%d7%31%bd%d7%21%13%b7%66%39%66%1a%f4%4a%cd%ec%c5%ec%0a%85%d7%17%4f%52%58%cd%fb%db%1c%90%50%b4%aa%a3%1f%8f%08%0e%fd%ba%70%3c%3f%57%b3%da%95%44%e4%99%9d%88%ae%a1%b1%5b%bd%c6%14%85%8a%a8%b0%72%57%3f%4e%ec%bf%47%7f%92%c9%00%fa%2d%b4%e5%f5%0e%72">Welcome to CHA-NO-YU Japanese tea ceremony if I remember right. I have trouble keeping serious, often scowling on pomp and solemn things, but sounds rather nice. 8. Witchvox: 10 January, 2003 - 3:19:57 PM Another site that did not get filed last year, but a very informative site concerning Wicca and Paganism. Slanted to teach, inform, not convert or preach. A must read for people with open minds, or even for Christians that want to understand other faiths. 9. BBC News | WORLD yet another older link, but a way to get unAmerican biased news of the world, while keeping it easy to read. 10. Texas Links A page of Texas stuff, and many, many links of Texas related things. A must read if you have a Texan you are trying to understand. :-) (actually, another older link, but the page is maintained by a family here in Merkel. Surf the net, and out of all the people online, find a page from someone else in merkel, lol) 11. The On-Line Books Page Entire books online! Mostly old, old, and some rare books, but interesting anyway (older link) 12. LlamaWeb, Llama Information on the Internet! Want to raise llamas? 13 TopoZone - The Web's Topographic Map Online, free topo maps of the US. Pretty good site. The maps I have from the USGS match up with these online. I cannot remember, but I think this site also has satellite and Arial photos of the US too. So, if you do not live in the boondocks, you might be able to see a bird's eye view of your own home online. Searchable by city names, so you do not need grid numbers and all that. 14. Q and A Index Want to know the origin and/or meaning of some odd word or phrase, check here. From "; At sixes and sevens " to "Zilch " you can find hours of interesting reading here. 15. http://www.bored.com A way to Waste hours of your life online... Ranging from odd, funny, interesting to plain stupid. So, anyway, that is part of my year in links. I did not check every link for linkrot, but they all worked sometime during the last year. :-) I would be intrested in reading some of the places that you have have been online this year.
